It is the most wonderful time of the year! Not Christmas...Postseason Volleyball! We are overjoyed the regular season was able to be completed with minimal hiccups across the state! However, we are at this point; Win or Go Home! Let’s take a look at two districts and do our best to predict who will move on in each round and become district champions. The winner of these two districts will face off in sectional play this weekend.

District 14: (1) Pembroke Hill (2) Lincoln College Prep (3) East (4) Raytown South - October 27th and October 28th @ Raytown South

Pembroke Hill is undefeated on the season. They have a team capable of making a run in Class 4 behind the play of [player_tooltip player_id="98678" first="Sydney" last="Draper"] and Sarah Lattan. Lincoln Prep has come a long way in a short time under the leadership of Levada Johns. Like the other teams rounding out the district, volleyball outside of school is limited for the athletes. Pembroke Hill and Lincoln Prep will advance with the Raiders taking the title.

District 16: (1) Platte County (2) Kearney (3) Smithville (4) Excelsior Springs (5) Lafayette (St. Joseph) - October 26-28th @ Kearney

Platte County just completed another run through their conference season in dominating fashion. They had a long winning streak ended by class 5 Liberty last week. They have a balanced attack with Aly Anderson, [player_tooltip player_id="41803" first="Kate" last="Brown"], and [player_tooltip player_id="101678" first="Bryn" last="McGehe"]. Junior setter Emerson Walter has played well in her first varsity season. Kearney is an improved team in 2020. Arizona State commit [player_tooltip player_id="101675" first="Andi" last="Kreiling"] continues to shine for the Bulldogs. Smithville (21-7) is a team that can make some noise in district play. Senior Katie Kasten is leading the charge. Excelsior Springs (3-11) and Lafayette (2-14) have had rough goings in 2020. They will battle in the first round to determine who plays Platte County.

We will go with Excelsior Springs in the opening game but they will lose to Platte County on the second night. Kearney and Smithville will be a good fight. Kearney has the upper hand beating them in 5 and with a sweep. Kearney will complete the hard task of beating Smithville for the third time. In the championship, Platte County has had to battle against some of the top teams who are now in Class 5 the last few years in districts. This will be the year they finally hold the championship plaque.
