We begin our series of club previews in the state of Indiana with the 18s divisions of Circle City. We will mention some previously signed 21s, but most of our previews will exclusively mention the unsigned seniors that are looking for a place to play.

Eventually, we will hit up all of the major clubs in Indiana, including Munciana, Academy, Team Pineapple, Team Indiana, Union, NIVA and Dunes. There are other smaller clubs included in this preview, including Rev, Empowered, Cougar, Metro, Evansville United, COA and any others I’ve failed to mention. Here we go!

18 Purple

There are exactly two unsigned seniors on Circle’s flagship squad. The primary pin attackers include [player_tooltip player_id="85671" first="Abby" last="Maesch"] (Georgia), [player_tooltip player_id="85676" first="Kenadee" last="Coyle"] (Western Kentucky) and [player_tooltip player_id="85699" first="Atlantis" last="Clendenin"] (IUPUI). Adding to this list of pins is Miranda Wilson (6’1"), a tough, competitive outside from Roncalli who can hit from either pin. Those attackers are in good hands, quite literally, with setter [player_tooltip player_id="85674" first="Bailey" last="DeMier"] (Murray State) locating hittable balls better than most. The defensive specialist stable has two major studs, including [player_tooltip player_id="85686" first="Claire" last="Ertel"] (Florida Gulf Coast) and [player_tooltip player_id="85740" first="Rylie" last="McMahen"] (Winthrop), but the most well-rounded of DS’s on this team might be unsigned [player_tooltip player_id="85681" first="Taylor" last="Lauri"] (5’9"), who has spent some time at the left pin as a primary passer for 2019 4A runner-up Hamilton Southeastern.

18 Black

What makes this team intriguing is that most 2s teams in Indiana have a ton of kids that are overlooked or unsigned. This particular 2s team has the majority of their squad already signed to play next fall including hammers [player_tooltip player_id="85766" first="Taylor" last="Sorg"] (Indiana Tech), [player_tooltip player_id="85736" first="GraceAnn" last="Hartman"] (Ashland), and [player_tooltip player_id="85734" first="Makenna" last="Brauman"] (Maryville). Setter [player_tooltip player_id="85720" first="Sidney" last="Veatch"] (IUPUI) brings size and athleticism to the setting position. Interestingly enough, all three defensive specialists are available. [player_tooltip player_id="85744" first="Blakeley" last="Freeman"] might be the most decorated of the three, bringing speed and tenacity to the position. [player_tooltip player_id="85757" first="Jordyn" last="Pax"] goes to high school down the street from Circle, and has been training for the special jersey for years. [player_tooltip player_id="85764" first="Keely" last="Davis"] is also fully capable of being a libero at the next level.

18 White

By now, you’re talking about a mix of 21s and 22s that may or may not be getting sniffs from programs around the region. Not quite. The mix is true; of the ten members of this squad, two are juniors. Within those eight remaining seniors, five are already signed, the best of which is [player_tooltip player_id="85722" first="Claire" last="Morris"] (University of Indianapolis), the quarterback of this offense. The three available 21s on this team have a variety of skills. [player_tooltip player_id="85754" first="Kyla" last="Moffitt"] (OH, 5’9") is the most athletic of these three, with the ability to play either pin. [player_tooltip player_id="85768" first="Jessica" last="Gearries"] (MB/OH, 5’11") can play any of the three front row positions, and her strength is slowly catching up to her length. Finally, defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id="85756" first="Ruth" last="Neu"] may see some time with the special jersey, and comes from a ball-control-first high school in Roncalli.

17/18 Purple

A true hybrid program if there ever was one, this roster has four seniors, four juniors and a sophomore. Two of the seniors have already signed to play at the next level. Outside hitter Madi Roop (Emmanuel) and [player_tooltip player_id="85755" first="Anna" last="Cruser"] (Kentucky Christian) are going to programs that will allow them to play almost immediately next fall. The two seniors remaining will most likely be running a 6-2 together. [player_tooltip player_id="85751" first="Aubrey" last="Lenz"] (5’11") brings length and size to the position, while [player_tooltip player_id="85770" first="Jillian" last="Gregg"] (5’9") is more of a set-first floor general.
