Club Preview: ’22s at Team Indiana

In this article:
Catching up a bit with our previews at Team Indiana, we touch on the class of 2022 that is both deep and talented. From the looks of things, there are twenty five players on three teams from this class alone, and only two are committed to play somewhere in the fall of ’22. Here we go!
Elite 18.1
Young, but loaded. That’s my impression of the roster for this squad. The four ’21s on this team have already signed to play elsewhere; Elizabeth Phillips Elizabeth Phillips 5'10" | OH Heritage Christian | 2021 State IN (Arkansas State), Sydney Aguirre Sydney Aguirre 5'10" | OH Zionsville | 2021 State IN (Binghamton), Madison Beaver Madison Beaver 5'8" | RS Triton Central | 2021 State IN (Goshen) and Regann Jessee Regann Jessee 6'1" | MB Columbus East | 2021 State IN (Midway) were already discussed in yesterday’s article. The remainder of the roster has eight (!!!) solid class of ’22 players that can definitely make an impact not only this season but at the next level. Morgan Hornaday Morgan Hornaday 5'10" | S Greenfield Central | 2022 State IN and Rylee Ugen are two 5-10+ setters, each of which can easily run a 5-1. Both are hyper athletic, fast, and locate the ball well in all offensive tempi. Avery Moore Avery Moore 5'9" | OH Zionsville | 2022 State IN is a six-rotation outside who plays bigger than her 5-11 frame because of her athleticism. Meredith Hohnbaum is a 6-1 lefty that can hit all of the shots and blocks well. Katherine Floyd and Alivia Hill both add depth to the middle position behind Miss Jessee, with Alivia being more apt to see some time on the right side. The foundation of this team’s success, however, lives and dies with their full-time DS’s. Campbell Clark Campbell Clark 5'9" | DS/L Perry Meridian | 2022 State IN is excellent in serve receive, and Melia Gorrell is an outstanding left back defender that gets to many balls most can’t.
Elite 17.1
The two commitments for TI in the ’22 class are on this team. Reigning #1 recruit in the Prep Dig rankings is

(Colorado) is a 6-2 outside hitter that hits a heavy ball and is an absolute force. Caitlyn Murphy (class of ’21) should be setting this squad, as she is a young senior. The rest of the team is a who’s who of volleyball talent in central Indiana.

might see time as both a middle and as a right side this spring, as she plays bigger than her 5-11 frame. Macy Lyons is another option in the middle who gets up fast and defends from pin to pin well. The left pin is stacked as well; besides Miss Meller listed above, this squad can also roll out 6-1
Olivia Murphy

. Why, you ask? Because she’s a class of ’23 kid. This team is big, fast and GOOD.
The rest of the ’22 class
Although I don’t have official roster information for all of the class of ’22 at TI, I can say that the remainder are high-level players and will most likely fill the Elite 17.2 squad. This is an amalgam of talent, starting with Sarah Gomperts Sarah Gomperts 5'8" | S Park Tudor | 2022 State IN , a setter who’s relentless work ethic and high volleyball IQ has helped her increased ability over the years. Brooklyne Adams is another setter that will add depth to the position on 17.2. Occupying the other outside position is Sophia Fruchey, a six rotation outside that can also double as a DS. Speaking of DS’s, both Emma Martin and Libby Ochs should do fine in this role, with the latter possibly seeing time as a setter. Erica Barnhisel could see time on either pin, as her six foot size helps this squad in multiple ways. Erica Eads is probably the truest middle on this roster, and is another six foot option. Wrapping up this squad is Raven Rayford, who is probably the fastest and most athletic player on this roster. Her foot speed and serve receive make her an exceptional defender, and her jumping ability adds depth to the pins.
As always, I apologize in advance if I’ve missed anyone. Thank you to Michelle Coleman, recruiting coordinator and coach at Team Indiana for a lot of this info. Another thank you goes out to some TI parents that have contacted me personally about making sure these girls got their names out there. My appreciation of you cannot be overstated.
Update: In a previous edit, I had Molly Mungle Molly Mungle 6'1" | OH Bloomington South | 2022 State IN on 17.2. She’s on 17.1. Sorry, Molly!
