We pride ourselves on covering ALL levels of players throughout the huge state of Texas. We are always looking for diamonds in the rough that might not get a lot of the coverage that big named players and programs usually get from other publications. We have three players who we have not written about in the past year but have been in our Prep Dig Rankings since the first publishing back in March. College programs should definitely give these players a look.
Cameron Pesek Cameron Pesek 6'2" | RS Shiner St. Paul | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-2 Right Side (HS: St. Paul/Club: Corpus Christi Force/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Cameron has moved up the rankings one spot to now become the 18th ranked prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is from the Corpus Christi area and has been a “Force” for a while now. This long armed lefty has been terrorizing opponents for years on the right side. She is a dominant blocker who presses so well to seal the net away from the opponents best outside hitter. What stands out is her sweet arm swing that is super explosive. She has great size and range to take up a lot of space at the net. This young lady is special because her school plays her all the way around and she showcases great ball control in the back row. She routinely passes nails out of serve receive to keep her team’s offense in system. Her offensive abilities are what catch the eye the most. She is able to swing and score all around the blockers. She showcases this when she plays beach volleyball the most. For those schools with a sand program, you should definitely take a look at her. It takes a special player to shine in both sports. We are excited to cover Cam and look forward to seeing her progress this year and next year.
Maggie Walsh Maggie Walsh 5'10" | OH San Marcos | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-10 Outside (HS: San Marcos/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Maggie is ranked as the 53rd ranked prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Walsh moved to the San Marcos/Austin area this past year from the vaunted Denton Guyer high school and Instinct Volleyball club’s programs. A big move like that from a super solid program could have had some serious impacts on her volleyball career. However, Maggie landed into another fantastic program in Austin Juniors and has not skipped a beat on the court. A high riser who can absolutely throttle the ball is a problem on the court. The way she hits the ball should come with a warning or something. She has a gift in the form of a right arm. The ball almost disappears when she makes contact. It is a thing of beauty to watch this young lady hit a ball that hard down the line after she nails a few cross court attacks. She is a special six rotation player who will lead her san marcos team in passing efficiency and attacking. While she might not attract schools with a 5-10 height, she should not get looked over as she is special and will definitely help a college roster. We are excited to cover her and are proud to have her in the Prep Dig family.
Shawna Daniels Shawna Daniels 6'0" | MB Rowlett | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Rowlett/Club: Dallas Premier/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Shawna is ranked as the 57th ranked prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Rowlett is super solid middle from the Dallas area who excels at the net. She is what we consider a pure stopper. She has a fantastic frame as it is super strong and has huge hands, which cover a lot of space when forming the block. I truly like how she patrols the net and presses over the net. Offenses have to account for where she is on the court and try to keep her moving to slow her down. She has the ability to take over a match with her defense. If she is slightly late with her footwork, she is able to still close the block with her long reach. I know a lot of schools who could use her blocking abilities and will be talking to those coaches about her. We are excited to cover her for the next two years and will be watching very closely as she progresses in the middle.
Please congratulate these young ladies for their hard work being recognized as a top player in the state of Texas. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.
