Middle blockers typically don’t get the most hitting attempts, big digs, but they sure hear about it when they don’t close the block! Who doesn’t love it when they create a concrete roof that rejects an opponents attack? Let’s look at some 2022 Middle Blockers.

– 6’0 – Madison Edgewood – Balance
Barth made the most of her shortened junior season for Edgewood by recording 93 kills (.249) and 25 blocks. She’s energetic, moves well laterally, and gets from pin to pin with ease.

– 6’0 – Appleton North – Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold
Mischler has had a great career so far. She has done a great job with eye sequencing to read the ball well, make quick lateral movements, and shuts down hitters with solid blocking form. We still have to see her play her official WIAA junior season, but during her sophomore season, she had over 100 kills and 48 blocks. Mischler is not finished yet, and I’m sure we will hear much more from her.

– 6’2 – Brookfield Central – Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold
Daugherty brings a fast arm swing, great energy, a strong block, and is laterally quick to the pins. Daugherty had 133 kills, averaging almost 3 kills per set, and 34 blocks for the heavy-handed Lancers. At 6’2 her strength at the net helps her terminate.
Paige Stickney

– 6’0 – Menomonee Falls – Milwaukee Sting 17 Silver
When you watch her play, you can tell Stickney is a hard worker on and off the court. And her best volleyball is still to come now that she hits a nice cross body cut back that will take the defense by surprise. Stickney also swings with a fast heavy arm and gets a lot of block touches because she really penetrates the net. An added bonus is her ability to spot-serve aggressively and accurately.
Olivia VanZeeland – Kaukauna – FVP G18 Green
VanZeeland can terminate with a range of tempos and can run a quick route to get herself open for the kill. She gets up quickly to take the ball at the highest point and send it immediately to the floor.
