The high school volleyball season continues at full pace in the state of Washington. After several months of wait and uncertainty, it has been great to see these student-athletes being able to get on the court again and doing what they love.

It is, however, a shortened season and in a little over three weeks it will have come to an end already. Knowing that, we certainly don’t want to waste any time and will continue with our weekly articles highlights the players who have been doing a great job in each of the state’s six divisions.

Today it’s time we address the 1A and 1B divisions.

1A
[caption id="attachment_110783" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Excel NW[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="96999" first="Tiffany" last="Chandler"] – Outside Hitter – La Center – 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="96999" first="Tiffany" last="Chandler"] has established a reputation as one of the most prolific scorers in the state and she’s certainly living up to it in her final year of high school volleyball despite La Center’s 5-5 win record. The 5’9” La Center outside hitter, who ranks 20th at prepdig.com’s class of 2021 rankings, continues to be lethal at the net and has already produced 199 points for the Wildcats in the season – 165 kills, 20 aces and 14 blocks. Most importantly, she’s more efficient than ever, reaching her highest rates in both kill (45.7%) and hitting (.421) percentages. She’s fresh from a 35-kill match against Castle Rock last Saturday.

Abby Cummins – Setter – King’s Way Christian - 2021

Another familiar face to those who followed high school volleyball in Washington during the last years, Abby Cummins is once again in great form for King’s Way Christian, a team that has a 6-4 record so far. The 5’8” setter is excelling in her main role with the Knights, as usual, having handed out 273 assists (7.4 per set) already, but is also producing in other areas of the game. Cummins ranks third in the roster for both kills (74) and aces (15) and has also produced seven blocks and 50 digs as well. The team’s most recent match, a 3-2 loss to Goldendale on Saturday, saw arguably the best of Cummins as she registered a season-high 42 assists to go with eight kills.

McKenna Reggear – Middle-Blocker – Colville - 2022

McKenna Reggear, on the other hand, is one of the emerging talents in the division. The six-foot middle-blocker had a very limited role with Colville in her first two years of high school volleyball but stepped up to help to fill the voids opened by a heavy overturn ahead of the current season. Reggear has been especially prolific at the net for the Indians, leading the team in both kills (48) and blocks (33, to an average of 1.8 per set). However, her impact on the team’s backcourt efforts cannot be overlooked as she ranks first in the roster for aces (15) and digs (48) and is second in passing (64). The Indians have played in only six matches so far, having won two of them.

1B

Chantelle Isaacson – Outside Hitter – Three Rivers Christian – 2022

Chantelle Isaacson keeps getting better every year and it sure seems she’s given another step forward with Three Rivers Christian this season. Placed in more of a central role offensively, the 5’9” outside hitter has responded well to the task, producing 152 kills already and improving her kills per set average from 2.3 to 3.9. She’s hitting the ball more often and better too as her kill (43.7%) and hitting (.264) percentages are both higher than in previous seasons. None of it has taken anything away from her overall game either as she’s still producing well from the service line (16 aces) and at the backcourt (39 digs and 75 passes).

Eliza Stark – Middle-Blocker – Northport – 2021

Eliza Stark’s high school volleyball career at Northport has been characterized by her huge production to the team in several different areas of the game and it hasn’t been any different this season. The 5’11” middle-blocker leads the Mustangs, who have an 8-3 win record so far, in arguably the three most relevant skills for someone in her position, having tallied 74 kills, 61 aces and 15 blocks as of now. Her backcourt game has also been lights out with 52 digs and 116 passes, stats that put her only behind right sider McKenzie Malcolm.

Audrey Wellhausen – Right-Sider – Mary Walker – 2023

Audrey Wellhausen is hands down one of the most improved players in the entire division. The 5’10” right-sider has benefited from a more central role with Mary Walker to substantially improve her production for the Chargers. A quick look at her stats shows just that. While it took her 63 sets to register 139 kills in 2019, this season she’s tallied 123 in just 33 (raising her kills per set average from 2.2 to 3.7). Wellhausen has also drastically improved her defensive efficiency, moving from 0.4 digs per set in 2019 to 1.5 now to a total of 50 already. If she continues developing at this pace, she’ll quickly join the top players in the state.
