March and April have been a hectic month of recruits giving their verbal commit which can always cause a chain reaction for college coaches and athletes. Athletes may feel the pressure to commit, college coaches may feel the pressure to offer, but Wisconsin still has a crew of 2019 setters that are high caliber players with plenty of national level club experience. Here is a handful of setters who can be counted on to contribute at the next level.

Olivia Olson - Wisconsin Volleyball Academy 17 Black - New Holstein High School

Olson is incredibly athletic and just under six feet tall she can play a multitude of positions. For her high school team last year she racked up 218 kills and close to 300 digs. For her club season she is running a 5-1 for WVA 17 Black. WVA will be playing at the Northern Lights Qualifier in Minneapolis this weekend and she would be a great fit for plenty of the Division 2 schools in Minnesota. Lots of upside to Olson and would be a great pick up at the next level.

Grace Beyer - Milwaukee Sting 17 Black - Wisconsin Lutheran High School

Playing for Milwaukee Sting, Beyer is getting top training and has had some of her teammates recently commit to Division 1 and Division 2 schools. Last year for Wisconsin Lutheran she was the quarterback of the team with over 750 assists and just shy of 300 digs. Wisconsin Lutheran will be one of the top Division 2 teams in the state with plenty of weapons returning from a team that plays a very challenging schedule.

Grace Mans - FC Elite 17 Navy - Ft. Atkinson High School

FC Elite 17 Navy is loaded with Division 1 talent and Mans is training with some of the best in the state. Mans is a strong, athletic setter who can run a 5-1 or 6-2 with great all around skills. Her physicality at the net will transition well to the college game and her high level of club play with talented players as well. This Fall she will join forces with her sister Emma, who will be a 6’2 Sophomore middle blocker.

Tommy Albers - Milwaukee Sting 18 Black - Neenah

Albers is playing up on the Milwaukee Sting 18 Black team that will be competing at in the National Division in California this weekend. Albers ran a 5’1 for Neenah last year and will be back for her Senior campaign to take back the FVA from Kimberly and also make a run back to the state tournament for the Rocket. Albers earned All FVA honors with just under 1000 assists and 200 digs.

Annie Hopp - Milwaukee Sting 17 Silver - Sheboygan North

Annie Hopp has been playing high level club volleyball her whole career and will be the leader at Sheboygan North this Fall with plenty of experience. Last year Hopp averaged 9.5 assists/set and over 1000 total for the season. This season she will be setting to middle blocker and Loyola-Chicago commit, Kasey Bell and rising 2021 prospect Lizzie Binder on the pin. North will be looking to make a run at a Fox River Classic Conference as well as deep tournament run in a very high powered sectional. Hopp and the Golden Raiders have the experience to battle against the best.

Chyna Bacchus - Motion 17 Blue - University School of Milwaukee

If Bacchus was a football player, her position would be “Athlete”. If she played basketball, she would be the one who could guard all five positions and if she played softball she would be listed as a utility player. Bacchus has been setting for Motion this club season, but can play any position. A smooth, athlete who is very physical at the net, she can be utilized in any position. A savvy player with a knack for the game, Bacchus would be a solid pick up for a team who needs a little bit of anything. With her athletic ability her game in college will really take off!

Sydney Foote - Wisconsin Volleyball Academy - Oshkosh North

Foote is one that is a little under the radar, but will be setting for WVA 17 Red at Northern Lights this weekend. Foote is a quick and athletic with over 750 assists last year at North. With plenty of training and club experience Foote is someone who is definitely on the radar at the small Division 2, Division 3 level.

Emma Ruckstadter - Midwest Penguins 17 Black - Arrowhead

Arrowhead has been a solid program in the metro area the past few years, but is definitely looking to break through to get to Resch come early November. With a roster loaded with high level club players, Ruckstadter will be one of the go to players as setter. With over 1500 assists for her career, Ruckstadter will be heading into her Senior year with the likes of Aubrey Hamilton, a top recruit out of the Class of 2020 heading to Notre Dame. Look for Arrowhead and Ruckstadter to be making some noise come tournament time late October, and possibly early November.
