Emporia Site (1) Emporia (8) Andover (9) Hays (16) Salina Central (17) Goddard
Emporia (24-9) gets the nod as the top overall seed in this region.
Key wins: Bonner Springs, Bishop Carroll
Key players: Rylee Peak, Rebecca Snyder, Maddyn Stewart, Grace Xu Grace Xu 6'1" | S Emporia | 2022 State KS

Goddard (9-25)

In our opinion, the other region of teams is more top-heavy. Any of the top 5 seeds could make an argument for the top seed in this half of the bracket. The Andover/Hays match is the more intriguing match of the weekend. Whatever team gets the victory will have to beat Emporia, which may be too much to ask for after a tight opening match. We will go with Emporia.
Maize South site (2) Maize South (7) Andover Central (10) Great Bend (15) Salina South (18) Arkansas City
Number 2 overall seed Maize South (28-8) has an argument for the top seed.

Arkansas City (7-26)
Key wins: Goddard
Key players: Kinzie Perdue, Cady Dickey, Mika Munson, Saylor Givens
We believe Maize South is the top team in this region. They have had some great battles this year against some of the top teams in the state. They will take care of business in the play-in match. Andover Central and Great Bend is an interesting face-off. The fact Great Bend has beaten top seed Emporia definitely raises an eyebrow. We think the shorter trip benefits Andover Central in this one. In the final, we like Maize South to get it done.
Topeka West site (3) Topeka West (6) Bishop Carroll (11) Newton (14) Valley Center
Topeka West (27-9) snatches overall number 3.
Key wins: Shawnee Mission North
Key players: Makinsey Jones, Siani Sanchez, Jaya Miller
Bishop Carroll (23-12)
Key wins: Emporia
Key players: Kenzie Dugan, Lily Ebright, Grace Long Grace Long 5'6" | DS/L Bishop Carroll | 2023 State KS
Newton (17-18)
Key wins: Derby
Key players: Gracie Rains Gracie Rains 5'11" | OH Newton | 2022 State KS , Olivia Antonwich, Abby Kootnz, Elena Vanderweg
Valley Center (13-20)
Key wins: Liberal
Key players: N/A
Topeka West over Valley Center and Bishop Carroll over Newton. We like Carroll’s resume much better than the host school. The teams they play week in and week out better prepare them to get through this substate. Topeka West has chalked up close to 30 wins but with their best win in our eyes over a not-strong Shawnee Mission North team, we don’t think they have the firepower nor experience to get it done. BC in a sweep.
Goddard-Eisenhower Site (4) Goddard-Eisenhower (5) Topeka Seaman (12) Kapaun Mt. Carmel (13) Maize
Goddard-Eisenhower (25-9) gets the final top spot.
Key wins: Andover Central
Key players: N/A
Topeka Seaman (23-10)
Key wins: Spring Hill, Basehor-Linwood, Emporia
Key players: N/A
Kapaun Mt. Carmel (16-19)
Key wins: N/A
Key players: N/A
Maize (15-19)
Key wins: Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Maize South, Emporia
Key players: Abby Godfrey Abby Godfrey 5'10" | MB Maize | 2022 State KS , Cameron Cleary Cameron Cleary 5'11" | MB Maize | 2022 State KS , Kelsey Kuhl Kelsey Kuhl 5'7" | DS/L Maize | 2022 State KS , Kaylee Lively Kaylee Lively 5'7" | S Maize | 2023 State KS
We expect both Goddard-Eisenhower and Topeka Seaman to get wins to start the day. Both teams have chalked up w’s in the win column this fall. We like the quality of teams and wins Seaman has earned this year which include a very good Spring Hill team and top-seeded Emporia. Topeka Seaman takes the trip and brings home the substate title.
