Continue ReadingThanksgiving has come to a close and we are finally underway with our preseason and season openers for the 2021-22 club season. I have had the honor to go to some practices and watch some athletes who have gotten little to no coverage this high school season, and let me tell you, there are tons of under radar athletes we are missing out on.
Nailah Hicks
Hicks is apart of the class of 2024 and the club season 15s as she is currently underway with the rest of her teammates gearing up to competing these upcoming club season. During her skills and drills during her weekly practices, Hicks is an athlete that has a sense of direction and is easily coachable. Being coachable is something I look into as she takes what is being thrown at her and she is applying those skills out on the court when it comes for her to perform during her 5 on 5s and 6 on 6s. I am impressed with her developing fundamental training and her communicative skills that she possess and look forward to her development throughout the remainder of the season.
Kennedy Mitchell
Mitchell is another athlete that is going to be one you are going to want to look out for throughout the season. It is tough for some of these girls to get the coverage they are looking for, and being one of those athletes that lack the necessary coverage she is one powerful and developing athlete I would keep an eye out for. Mitchell is quick on her feet and what stands out most about her is her ability to move across the court and working with her peers and coaching staff. She is another athlete that is coachable and has strong fundamental training that is going to be watched closely this season.
Elizabeth Taylor
Taylor is another athlete that is new to my radar and boy is she an athlete that I am going to be keeping tabs on. Taylor is going to be a new name out in the club scene, however, don’t let the unfamiliarity of her name get you, she is going to be one of the many athletes on the rise to an elite athlete. Her athleticism and desire to play is going to be the main drive of her overall athleticism and her ability to move swiftly and competitively across the court is what catches my eye about Taylor.
Jayla Fletcher
Fletcher is going to be the last athlete of this group o cover, but she is going to be a dominant athlete to keep tabs on this season as well. She is a very competitive athlete and is very determined when I had the chance to watch her during her practice over the last two weeks. Fletcher is a very defensive player and has some key characteristics on the offensive side as well that causes her athletic abilities to be diverse on the court.
