<p>The EIGHT athletes mentioned below all showed lots of improvement since the last rankings update. All of these athletes made BIG jumps in the 2023 rankings. </p> [caption id="attachment_171464" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171464" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/mallorie-taylor-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: OSAA</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91372" first="Mallorie" last="Taylor"]</i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">70 → 51</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/mallorie-taylor/cyN25NJa8ka51W1mO3liOg/default.htm">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’5”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: DS</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: LaSalle Catholic College Preparatory </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Aspire NW 18-1 Empire</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honors: Northwest Oregon Second Team All-League</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise?</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Taylor transferred from Central Catholic High School to LaSalle this past season. After playing on JV2 and JV for the Rams, she made it on the Varsity squad for the Falcons. Starting out as a defensive specialist for the team, Rivera (the starting libero) went out with a concussion, and Taylor was given the opportunity to take over while Rivera was out. That spot stayed Taylors the rest of the season. She brought athleticism, steady serve receive, and an all-out mentality defensively to the back row that could not be stopped. </span></p> [caption id="attachment_171467" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171467" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/reagan-anderson-headshot-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: OSAA</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91386" first="Reagan" last="Anderson"] </i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">69 → 54</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/reagan-anderson/PqX-ZMUWEemAzfp8ouYFiw/default.htm">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’11”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Horizon Christian School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Volleyball Alliance 17-1 </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honors: co-Lewis &amp; Clark Player of the Year (2021), Lewis &amp; Clark First Team All-League, 3A All-State (2021)</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anderson was honored as the co-Lewis &amp; Clark Player of the Year, an incredible feat for any athlete, but especially as a junior. She has shown steady improvement over the past year, playing for Volleyball Alliance, a smaller and newer club in the CEVA region. She brings a heavy arm to her attack and has a plethora of angles and shots at her disposal. </span></p> <p><b><i><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-171474" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/halle-garrity-headshot-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" />[player_tooltip player_id="91376" first="Halle" last="Garrity"] </i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">73 → 55</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14065423">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’11”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Westview High School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honors: Metro First Team All-League (2021)</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise?</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Garrity has showcased great improvement to her attacking over the past year and showcased her versatility during club and high school seasons. Trained as an outside attacker most of her career, she jumped into the middle and dominated for the Wildcats (and the league took notice, naming her to Metro First Team). </span></p> [caption id="attachment_171463" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171463" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/stella-williams-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: OSAA</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91403" first="Stella" last="Williams"] </i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">106 → 57</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’8”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Sheldon High School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Webfoot Jrs. 18-1 National </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Williams jumped a significant amount of spots in rankings due to her improvement in her all around game. Competing at a high level for both high school (Sheldon High School finished 1st in league) and club volleyball (Williams made Webfoot Jrs 18-1 National team), she is sure to make even more improvements to her game. </span></p> [caption id="attachment_171468" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171468" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/AQ7A2871-e1640042452797-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: Jennifer Barnes</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91383" first="Morgan" last="Olsen"] </i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">79 → 58</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/morgan-olsen/y8J0-1_4302xsLxQWW59Cw/default.htm">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’9”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Jesuit High School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Athena Volleyball Academy 18-1 National </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Olsen made some major strides to her game over last club season and made the jump to varsity at Jesuit High School, a team that finished #2 in the 6A State tournament. Although she was not a starter for the Crusaders, she was typically the first player off the bench when an attacker was struggling to put the ball away. She will be playing for Athena 18-1 National this club season. </span></p> [caption id="attachment_171483" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171483" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/ella-baley-headhot-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: OSAA</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91396" first="Ella" last="Baley"]</i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">96 → 61</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/ella-baley/oK0kokyPaEytzTL92EAt6w/default.htm">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’8”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Mazama High School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Basin Bombers Volleyball Club 18-1 </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honors: Skyline Honorable Mention </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Baley is a six-rotation outside attacker that was pivotal in Mazama High School’s incredible season. She helped the team get to a 19-2 overall record and 10-0 in league, gaining the first ever Skyline Conference Championship in school history. A multi-sport athlete, also a stud on the basketball court and softball field, Baley oozes athleticism which translates well on the volleyball court. </span></p> [caption id="attachment_171485" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-171485" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/12/cayton-smith-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: OSAA</em>[/caption] <p><b><i></i></b><i></i><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91405" first="Cayton" last="Smith"] </i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">107 → 68</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.ncsasports.org/womens-volleyball-recruiting/oregon/portland/oregon-episcopal-school/cayton-smith">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’8”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: OH</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Oregon Episcopal School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: Team Hiki-NO Volleyball </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Honors: Lewis &amp; Clark Player of the Year (2021), Lewis &amp; Clar</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">k First Team All-League (2021), 3A Second Team All-State (2021)</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Smith took on a big role this season for the Oregon Episcopal School volleyball team, as their go-to attacker, and stellar defender. A smaller school, the Aardvarks looked to Smith to put the ball away and keep the ball alive when passing. Smith was one of their only club players so she brought a competitive edge to the court. </span></p> [caption id="attachment_149270" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-149270" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2021/07/daphne-bakker-headshot-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> <em>Photo: Athena</em>[/caption] <p><b><i>[player_tooltip player_id="91398" first="Daphne" last="Bakker"]</i></b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">98 → 70</span></p> <p><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15608680/daphne-bakker">[ Link to recruiting profile ]</a></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Height: 5’7”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Position: DS</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High School: Westview High School</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Club: NPJ Portland 18-1 National</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the rise? </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bakker continues to elevate her game and brings steady ball control to the back row. Making the switch from Athena to NPJ Portland this season, she will have a chance to play at a high level with a new group of athletes (NPJ Portland is a new sect of NPJ).</span></p>
