Post-Season Notable Kentucky Defenders

<p>Passing is sometimes overlooked in the game of volleyball, but it can arguably be one of the most important skills because you simply can’t do anything without a pass. Here is the last post-season coverage article where we highlight some of Kentucky’s best defenders. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="104561" first="Katie" last="Floyd"]-</strong> A senior libero for Taylor County High School, [player_tooltip player_id="104561" first="Katie" last="Floyd"] killed the game with 773 digs which rewarded 7.03 per set. Floyd played middle back for the Lady Cardinals and was a constant leader because of the amount of plays she made. She never took a break and was always hustling in the back court. What makes Floyd different than other liberos is her ability to read from middle back. Her defensive skills became one of the keys to success for her squad. Floyd ended her career with a whopping 23 digs against Central Hardin in the first round of region. She will be greatly missed! </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="157496" first="Shanna" last="Lewis"]-</strong> Finishing 8th in the state with the most digs, [player_tooltip player_id="157496" first="Shanna" last="Lewis"] from Lynn Camp had a great season with 504 digs which averaged 8.04 a set. Lewis helped her team defensively tremendously but also a ton from the service line where she ended with 54 service aces. If you ever watched Lewis, you could immediately tell she was one of those kids that would give 110% at all times. This junior defensive stud has tons of clips that show her running through the benches to just go dig a ball, and that’s a kid you want on the floor at all times. It’ll be fun to see this girl in her senior campaign for 2022. </p> <p><strong>Jenna Ousley-</strong> For Pikeville High School, Jenna Ousley made her name known as just a freshman where she finished 14th in the state with a huge 769 digs which averaged 7.12 digs a set. This is an incredible number for a freshman where she just jumped in as the varsity libero. Ousley made the easy plays perfect but also went out and dug a ball when it mattered the most. For example, in a nail biter 5th set district finals match against East Ridge, she had a total of 36 digs!!! Ousley started her career off with a memorable freshman season, so it will be fun to watch this stud libero as she only grows into her position! </p> <p><strong>Cheslee Craddock-</strong> Junior outside hitter from Hart County, Cheslee Craddock showed her skills in the back row where she finished 17th in the state with 396 digs and averaged 6.95 digs per set. Craddock helped her squad to one of their best finishes ever with a 17-6 season! Something interesting about Craddock is the way she impacts the team from every angle and can make plays from the back or front row. Craddock may hit front row on the outside, but she also takes passing seriously when she’s in the back row. Watch out for this player in her senior year in 2022. </p>
