We always look forward to learning about new players over the course of the year. Unfortunately, players fall through the cracks in our attempt to cover the whole state. We are grateful for the videos and stats to introduce us to new faces. Here are some players we discovered this fall who make an impression and entered our updated rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="168899" first="Aby" last="Widhalm"] - OH - Pleasant Hill

A Class 4 All-State performer in 2021, Widhalm has a bright future in the sport. She is a true scorer on the pin as she dropped 358 kills in her sophomore season. Oh, and she hit at a .330 clip! She will continue to round into a 6 rotation pin, which will increase her stock ever more moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="172446" first="Kananihokuao" last="Misipeka"] - RS - Liberty North

You may see Misipeka on the court, in the front row, and wonder what is going on. Standing at 5’7", you learn quickly you can’t judge a book by its cover, as evidenced this December watching Missouri native and Pitt star Leketor Member-Meneh soar to great heights during the NCAA championships. The Liberty North opposite brings that same jumping ability to the court. She came on late for Liberty North with 80 kills and 119 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id="172448" first="Jada" last="Griffin"] - OH - Whitfield

Another budding pin, Griffin showed she will be a name to watch moving forward. The 5’11" hitter showed she has the tools to be a big-time player with over 100 kills and digs this fall. More reps and competition will help elevate her skills to new levels.

[player_tooltip player_id="168900" first="Alexis" last="Hoffman"] - MB - Advance

Hoffman brought her A-game in 2021 for Advance. An efficient middle, we believe she also has potential from the pin. This fall she had 351 kills and 88 total blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id="170036" first="Bailey" last="Boehm"] - OH - Lindbergh

The theme with our updated rankings is young pins with the potential to be strong 6 rotation players in the future. Boehm fits that bill as well after a good sophomore year. She contributed 129 kills and 78 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id="150054" first="Bailey" last="Braun"] - OH - Blair Oaks

A state championship season means many players playing their role and contributing to the team’s success. Braun is one of those players who did her part and stood out over the season. She was steady in the back row with 171 digs and solid on the pin with 153 kills.

[player_tooltip player_id="172447" first="Sophia" last="Crane"] - L/DS - Webb City

It’s time to give some love to the defenders jumping into the rankings. Webb City has a good one in Crane. She was key in the team’s 20 win season anchoring the defense. She had 390 digs and 525 receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id="168908" first="Enzley" last="Dinkins"] - S - South Iron

Class 1 South Iron featured quite a few standout players with a couple of upperclassmen All-State selections. Dinkins will be a future honoree if her play continues to match what we saw this year. The setter/opposite dished out 487 assists and put down 211 kills in 2021.

[player_tooltip player_id="170395" first="Madison" last="Dunn"] - L/DS - Bismarck

Another standout defender, Dunn was an All-District selection this fall after a strong high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id="170032" first="Ava" last="Penuel"] - S - Fredericktown

Penuel was a second-team all-league selection in her sophomore season. She did a little bit of everything while setting in a 6-2. She handed out 416 assists and scraped up 275 digs. When on the pin, she found 210 kills on the year.
