Smith earned a shoutout in yesterday’s feature on uncommitted gems. We knew we had to boost Smith’s rankings position after she made an immediate impact with Nebraska Elite at the Northern Lights Qualifier. Being a six-rotation outside hitter is tough, but carrying this role on a new team is even more difficult. Smith has handled this task well and is climbing the 2025 hierarchy as a result.

Players at new clubs seems to be the theme today. Smith has proven to be a universally effective outside hitter as she joined Nebraska Elite 17-1 this year. She made a lot of the clutch plays were used to seeing from her at Wahoo High School. NLQ’s wide array of terminal attackers in 17 Open did not stop Smith from wielding her extraordinary defensive skills, either. It’s scary to think that Smith could become even more effective as she settles in with the talented “Top Gun” squad.

New year, new club. We’re excited to see what Smith can do with Nebraska Elite’s top 17s squad, which is loaded with pin talent for the 2024 season. If her prep numbers are any indication, Smith should fit right in with Nebraska Elite’s productive scorers in this age group. Wahoo High School has leaned on its leading outside hitter for a while, and Smith has consistently delivered. That shouldn’t change with a new club team.

Smith is one of a few Wahoo standouts who has made their mark with VCNebraska on the club side. This club is also becoming known for their all-around left-side hitters, and Smith fits that mold perfectly for 16 Elite. She’s a hitter who still needs to be tracked in the back row with her dangerous pipe attacks scoring well during qualifiers.
