Another middle with excellent blocking skills, Gotsch patrolled the net for her AVA TX 18 Adidas team. Many could say a player of her size would always impact the game with their blocking, but very few 6’4″s have her reading of the game and her mobility at the net. Gotsch made a massive leap in her production during the last high school season and never looked back, looking more and more solid every time I watch her play. While her offense is not quite up there with her blocking, she’s pretty efficient too and knows how to make the most of her incredible reach.

Gotsch has made great process over the last few years and became one of the top blockers in the state during the last high school season, when she set a new record for the most blocks in a single season at Friendswood. Although Gotsch’s length plays a big factor in her success, it was her physical improvement (jumping and mobility) and her better understanding of the game that made of her an outstanding blocker. She’s capable of taking up so much space with her arms and now she knows better the best way to do it.

Gotsch has been a well-known player in the Houston area for some years, but she took her blocking game to an entirely different level this season with Friendswood. Her length has always been a tremendous asset, but it feels like heading into this season Gotsch figured out how to make the absolute best of it and also to improve physically, especially with her vertical. She can be really difficult to go against because of her impressive wingspan and of how much space she’s able to take up with her arms above the net. A Grand Canyon commit, Gotsch set a new single-season school blocking record and her total production is currently at 164, with an average of 1.4 per set.

The towering middle blocker is having a career season in 2022-2023 as she seems to have learned how to take full advantage of her massive frame at the net. Extremely long, Gotsch is very difficult to be stopped or even slowed down because of her tremendously high contact point. Blocking, however, is arguably her best skill and besides of her length, she’s also very active and mobile. Gotsch has recently broken Friendswood’s single-season blocking record as she reached 134 for 2022-2023 alone.
