Qualifier season is now coming to an end and some teams have punched their ticket to USA Volleyball Junior Nationals, which will be held in Indianapolis later on this summer. Let’s take a look at a team who has had a great season so far and who we will be seeing at Nationals. Take a bow Tstreet 17 Naseri…you have earned it.
Tstreet has been a solid contender over the past decade or so in the national volleyball scene. They routinely pump out college level athletes and always have strong teams at every age group. Their 17s are have proven to be one of the best in the nation this year. They have an overall record of 38-14 and rank 28th overall in the nation according to AES results. This wonderful team won the USA division of the Salt Lake City Qualifier. They then decided to try their hand in the open division. They qualified in the Open division of USA Junior Nationals by placing 4th at the Red Rock Rave Qualifier in Las Vegas. I was able to watch them take care of business at this tourney and I was very impressed with what I saw. We are proud of their success and look forward to seeing them in Indy later this summer for Nationals. Even though we can write about each and every athlete that contributed to their success, I am only going to cover a few players that stood out while I was watching them. Let’s meet a few of them.
Eva Travis Eva Travis 5'11" | OH Aliso Niguel | 2023 State CA [2023] 5-10 Outside (HS: Aliso Niguel/Club: Tstreet/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Eva is currently on the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Aliso Niguel High School and also club for the amazing Tstreet club program. This young fireball has lit up the volleyball courts since she transferred to Southern California from the Oregon area. I am not sure there is another hitter who winds up as hard as she does to rip the ball through a defense. She takes one of the most violent approaches I have seen in a while and I love every bit of it. Miss Travis has great hang time with her vertical and it makes it very tough for opposing blockers to time it. She is a true six-rotation outside hitter who excels in the back row also. Tstreet has play-sets designed for her to hit behind the attack line and this shows just how dangerous she is from all over the court. She is a member of the famed ten foot club meaning she can approach touch ten feet high in the air. When I watched her play, she was extremely dynamic and stood out very well.
Lois Hansen [2023] 6-2 Outside/Right Side (HS: Yorba Linda/Club: Tstreet/Verbal: University of California at Santa Barbara)
Lois is currently on the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Yorba Linda High School and also club for the amazing Tstreet club program. She is a very lengthy pin attacker who showed out on day two of the Red Rock Rave qualifier in Las Vegas against some stellar competition. She used that length both offensively and defensively on both left and right side in the match I watched against Drive Nation out of the North Texas Region. The defending silver medalists in last year’s open division could not stop Miss Hansen when she rose up to attack. She truly hits at the peak of her jump and it makes it very difficult for a blocker to slow her down because of her long arms. We will be watching her very closely at nationals and think she has a lot to give her team as they chase a medal.
Ella Scott [2023] 5-7 Libero (HS: San Clemente/Club: Tstreet/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ella is someone who I plan on adding to the watch list in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings once I update them. She plays at San Clemente High School and also club for the amazing Tstreet club program. What stood out to me was her body strength. She had a very strong base and core when serve receive passing and digging hard driven balls from some hard hitting opponents. This young lady is solid throughout her frame and it shows when she moves and contacts the ball. You can tell that she understands the game as she positions herself in a great place to play the ball at all times. She reads the other team’s server and setter very well in left back. I think she has a lot of upside to her game in the back row and will be mentioning her name to a lot of college coaches soon.
Other notable players for this star-studded roster are all around setter/hitter Nicole Feliciano Nicole Feliciano 5'10" | S Aliso Niguel | 2023 State CA who played brilliantly in all six rotations and middle Sidney Shaffer who was a huge threat for Tstreet as she unleashed bombs out of the middle. We will be highlighting these young ladies and others from this team in another article soon as they gear up for Nationals. Stay tuned for more from this wonderful team.
