These athletes are from a variety of states and some might dip into a couple states between their high school and club ball. For college coaches, there are still plenty of options of high level 2023s still available. Here are some descriptions, but can you name that 2023 uncommitted prospect?
Answer Key At The Bottom Of The Article
1. This duo has been part of an elite, open level team that relies heavily on a strong serve and pass game and well as a quick tempo to the pin. They can score points, are very fundamentally sound, and are accustomed to rigorous competition. Their squad is one of the top teams out of the Kansas City are and have been performing well in the top tournaments in the country, punching a ticket to 17 Open in January. I’m sure they have D1 schools knocking on their door, but they are also in the heart of the MIAA, one of the top D2 conferences in the country.
2. She’s competed at the state level in multiple sports and has two state titles wrapped up in volleyball. Long and athletic, this athlete is extremely dynamic and has been a consistent force when it comes to competing for Iowa Rockets 17R. This team still has a lot of 2023 talent available and will be a scary matchup come late June in Indy.
3. Another middle blocker, this athlete is a power player with a savvy for being able to score points. A heavy swing, an aggressive approach, this athlete connects well with another 2023 available prospect in setter, Rachel Rossing. She is someone college coaches need to notice where she always finds a way to contribute in a positive way for her MKE Sting 17 Black squad.
4. This athlete has won a state title in volleyball, player of the year in her conference for basketball, and is even a standout musically on the stage. She does it all. Another middle who can play on the right side as well, she can score points in multiple ways, including a solid attack off one foot. She is going to contribute to the team in multiple ways and is a huge addition to the gym with her skill set and intangibles. CIA 17 Black and Osage High School has really benefited from her play.
5. Extremely scrappy, this Libero/DS is another who adds a major spark to the court. She has been one of the top dig leaders in Wisconsin and is always consistent with the first touch. She’s been starting at Libero for Fox Valley Lutheran and a steady presence for FC Elite. She knows what it’s like to play against tough competition.
6. This six rotation outside hitter has been a little under the radar but she has a huge upside to her game. She plays her high school ball in Illinois but hops over to Mississippi River to the Iowa side to play for Iowa Select 17 Mizuno. She has a big arm and the ability to score points from multiple spots on the court. Definitely someone coaches need on the radar.
7. This libero is another one who can light up the court and take command for her team. Her squad will be taking on some of the top teams in the Midwest when they head to the Prep Dig Gauntlet over Memorial Day weekend. She anticipates well, reads the next touch, and has a quiet, controlled platform. The intangibles are right where they need to be with her ability to remain poised and confident in all situations on the court. Her Illini Elite 17 Cardinal squad has to future Big Ten commits, but plenty of other 2023 talent to go around.
8. An extremely fast arm on the outside allows this athlete to be a big time point scorer. She won a state title in Wisconsin’s largest class this past fall and plays her club ball for VC United 171 Elite where she is one of their main point scorers. With her experience of high level training and winning at the same time, it makes her a big time addition to a gym at the next level. She will be looking for a big time turnout at the national tournament in Orlando and has her eyes on the prize to repeat as state champions for Wisconsin D1 in fall of 2022.
9. This is another athlete who has ties to two states where she is one of the top attackers in Northeast Iowa and plays her club ball for Xtreme VBC out of La Crosse. A big time leaper and explosive attacker, she has the ability to play multiple front row positions. Her hang time and strength makes her a major presence defensively and her quick twitch arm swing make sher dangerous out of the middle, however with her athletic ability she can do a little bit of everything.
