A solid setter with good court sense. She knows how to run an offense, whether it is setting a 5/1 or a 6/2. Even at 5’9″ she has the ability to contribute to the offense hitting right side.

For Woodson, the last couple years have been down years. They have lacked that big offensive player that can end rallies. Despite that Sofie finds herself fourth on the team in kills with the top hitting percentage at .244, first on the team in blocks, services aces and assists and third on the team in digs.

She actually ranks as the fourth best setter in the class of 2026. The top setter Claire Mo Claire Mo 5'9" | S Langley | 2026 State VA has won a couple state championships and is committed to Columbia.

This past season Sofie set for a Woodson high school team rocked by the departure of two of their top hitters, one to graduation and the other to a move out of state. Despite these losses Sofie helped salvage the season with her quality setting. Woodson somehow finished above .500, falling one win shy of making it to the state championship bracket.

Sofie led the team in assists and services aces, but surprisingly finished second in blocks and fourth in kills. She also led the team in kill percentage. She turned the setting position into an offensive machine.

With Virginia Elite she sets a 5/1 and also shares setting duties with Mackenzie Davis Mackenzie Davis 5'11" | S Riverside | 2026 State VA . You can watch her in action this weekend when they play in the Open Division in the Northeast Qualifiers.

Sofie stands out as our fourth ranked setter in the class of 2026. For her high school she also showed some offensive capability, finishing fourth on her team in kills. At 5’9″ she brings an approach jump of 9’0″ but with her volleyball IQ she knows where to hit the ball on the court.

She plays for Virginia Elite. While they rank 18th in the Region they have a roster that should compete well in this tournament. She has been used quite a bit as a 5/1 setter in high school and club.

The Cavaliers knew they were going to lose Maura Fay and Nora Gilmer to graduation. Last year Maura led her team in kills, while Nora shared the setting responsibilities with Sofie, normally being the front row player in their tandem. Losing their other outside Emma Gardner was not expected. She moved to Oklahoma. That left Sofie Ferrell Sofie Ferrell 5'10" | S Woodson | 2026 State VA as one of the veterans on the team.

Considering the losses to still find themselves at 8-8 on the season has to be gratifying. It also gives Sofie more opportunity to show off her offensive chops. She finds herself fourth on the team in kills, while also sitting on top in assists and service aces. Add in the fact that she sits second in digs shows the increased contributions she is making to the team.

A very talented setter. Runs a 5/1 well and with her 5’9 height she can reach over the net for the block. A little more work on improving her jump would enhance that skill. She brings those setting skills that you would like to use in all six rotations. Also brings a strong serve to the court.

She led her high school team in assists as well as finished second in aces. Woodson earned their way to the Virginia State championship but lost in the first round in five sets to Colonial Forge. They lost the fifth set 16-14.
