The culminating event for the CEVA season is the Regional tournament. All teams participating in CEVA Power League compete for their final standing of the season. For this series, we will be spotlighting athletes from teams that finished in the top 20 for the 18U/16U division who were nominated by their club coach, or a club coach from another team.

Without further ado, here are the 2025 setters that had stellar performances.
[caption id="attachment_196344" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Excel NW[/caption]
Kendall Mairs, 5’11", S/OH, Camas High School, Excel NW 16-1 Rox

[ Link to recruiting profile ]

Mairs received a shout-out from another coach for her stellar play for Excel 16-1 Rox. The only 2025 on the roster, she has taken on a major load all season, and Regionals was no different. A versatile setter/attacker, she is a critical piece of the team’s success. Mairs is rarely seen off the court, and for good reason. She can be seen running a 5-1, or a 6-2 and attacking on the right side.
[caption id="attachment_162218" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Player[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="161158" first="Kamden" last="Mitchell"], 5’10”, S, Crescent Valley High School, G3 16-1

[ Link to recruiting profile ]

Mitchell is the primary setter for the G3 16-1 team, running a 5-1 the majority of the season. At Regionals the team relied on her in a similar fashion, her coach noting that she was the heart of the G3 team. She did an exceptional job getting to the pass no matter where it was and putting up a hittable set. When they did run a 6-2, on the occasion, she was an effective right-side scoring option. Her coach commended her on a great tournament, staying consistent running the offense and her positive presence on the court as a vocal leader.
[caption id="attachment_204657" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Athena VB[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="161849" first="Kaarina" last="Geymann"], 5’8”, S, Beaverton High School, Athena Volleyball Academy 15-2 Black

[ Link to recruiting profile ]

Geymann took on the role of primary setter over Regionals weekend for the Athena 15-2 Black team, running a 5-1. She was given praise by her coach for stepping up as a major leader for the team and bringing tons of competitive and infectious energy to the court. A leftie, Geymann is a major offensive threat in the front row and is never afraid to attack the second ball. She racked up 88 assists and 13 kills over the course of the tournament.
[caption id="attachment_205611" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Jenn Bowers[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="161834" first="Charlei" last="Henkel"], 5’7”, OH/DS/S, Sherwood High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1 Gold

[ Link to recruiting profile ]

Henkel stepped into a completely new position at Regionals for the OJVA 15-1 Gold team. Previously the teams six rotation outside hitter, the team needed a lineup change and Henkel rose to the challenge. Juggling either a 5-1 or a 6-2 opposite [player_tooltip player_id="161860" first="Peyton" last="Rogers"], you would never know she had only been training as a setter for a couple of weeks. She took on the challenge with confidence and was a major factor in the teams overall success.
[caption id="attachment_204658" align="alignleft" width="150"] Photo: Jennifer Bowers[/caption]
Maggie Schmidt, S/DS, 5’4”, Sherwood High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 16-2 Blue

[ Link to recruiting profile ]

Schmidt juggled a few different positions for the OJVA 16-2 Blue team this season, primarily playing as a defensive specialist. However, over Regionals, she was called upon to run a 5-1 and stepped up major for the team. Her coach commended her ability to step into any role asked and take on the challenge on with positivity and flexibility.
