Badger Region Athletes who Dominated USAV Nationals

<p>I had an absolute blast covering nationals. It was a crazy week of incredible volleyball and covering a ton of high-level athletes. There were a number of Badger Athletes who shined throughout USAV Nationals and showed just how awesome our region is</p> <p>Here are some athletes who DOMINATED USAV GJNC.</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="82916" first="Sylvie" last="Zgonc"] – Sting 17 Gold – Outside Hitter – Committed to South Dakota State</h3> <p>Sylvie is an explosive, aggressive athlete on the court. She was a huge leader in her team's National Division Championship and was selected as the MVP of the entire tournament. Sylvie is efficient and impactful on defense and offense. She also has a very high volleyball IQ and brings both power and consistency to the pin.</p> <p>Her teammates <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91895" first="Molly" last="Berezowitz"]</strong> (Libero, committed to Marquette) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="61781" first="Zoe" last="Behrendt"]</strong> (Setter, Committed to the University of North Carolina) also earned All Tournament Team honors at the tournament. This entire team was impressive the entire four days of play including <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="82901" first="Maddy" last="McGath"]</strong> (Middle, committed to West Virginia) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="82287" first="Emily" last="Honzelka"]</strong> (Middle, Committed to Toledo).</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="122566" first="Emerson" last="Van Lannen"] – FC Elite 16 Navy – Setter</h3> <p>Emerson plays at an incredibly high level. She was the starting setter for FC Elite 16 Navy who won the National Championship at the 16 National division. She was selected to the All Tournament Team and definitely earned the honor. She is fast, hard to read, and gets her hands on nearly every ball. Emerson is a very smart athlete who can hit as well as set and has a very competitive serve.</p> <p>Her teammates <strong>Peyton Carlson</strong> (2026, Outside Hitter) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="122532" first="Annalise" last="Patchett"]</strong> (Outside Hitter) also earned All Tournament Team honors. Both earned a lot of playing time and were key on offense, serve receive, and defense. Other key players on this national championship team were <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="122497" first="Olivia" last="Baierl"]</strong> (libero), <strong>Brynn Janke</strong> (setter), and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="181809" first="Madison" last="York"]</strong> (opposite). Every athlete on this team is very talented and all were essential in their national championship run!</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="122569" first="Sophia" last="Wendlick"] – Sting 16 Black – Outside Hitter</h3> <p>Sophia had a great tournament. She was consistent, powerful, and explosive in her play. Sophia was fun to watch throughout the tournament and really impressed me every day I saw her play. She was really solid in the back row and had a lethal attack in all six rotations.</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="181812" first="Faith" last="Hudson"] – [program_tooltip program_id='431537' first='Midwest' last='Penguins'] 16 Black – Middle Hitter</h3> <p>Faith has developed into a quick and athletic middle. Her speed across the net and in transition really sets her up for success when blocking and allows her to out-pace opponents on offense. She had numerous momentum-changing kills for her team throughout nationals and was impressive to watch.</p> <p>https://x.com/prepdigrachel/status/1543016159871655937</p> <h3>Ella Schumacher – 262 Attack 16 Savage – Outside Hitter</h3> <p>Ella was a consistent force on this team. Here sheer athleticism makes her valuable on the court. She played all 6 rotations and was an asset to her team in every one of them. Her ball control and contact point were clean. Ella has a great vertical and used every inch when she was blocking and hitting.</p> <p>https://x.com/prepdigrachel/status/1542953123060359169</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="178620" first="Summer" last="Grigg"] – [program_tooltip program_id='432005' first='Madtown' last='Juniors'] 16-1 National – Outside Hitter</h3> <p>Summer was a really powerful and scrappy pin hitter for Madtown. She was very well-rounded in all six rotations but really impressed me with her grit and consistency on defense and her powerful back row attack.</p> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id="61807" first="Kindyl" last="Kilar"] – Sting 17 Black – Outside Hitter -Committed to Florida International University</h3> <p>Kindyl is an amazing 6-rotation pin who has achieved a lot throughout her volleyball career but still has unmatched potential. She earned All Tournament Team honors at nationals for her performance in the 17 Freedom Division where her team placed 3<sup>rd</sup>. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="82954" first="Myla" last="Glaser"]</strong> also earned All Tournament Team from Sting 17 Black.</p>
