With every updated ranking we see athletes jumping up based on their strong seasons. Things haven't changed as we saw numerous players make cases for their ranking to improve this August. Here are a handful of players who made dramatic moves prior to the fall high school season.

21. [player_tooltip player_id='152161' first='Ashlyn' last='Reeves'] - MB - Mavs KC/St. Thomas Aquinas

Reeves made a big jump this year as did her teammate and middle counterpart on the Missouri side Aisha Aiona. The 6'3" middle looked much better this spring on the slide and off of one foot in front of the setter. She is a dominant blocker who does a good job of pressing over the net. She sometimes goes under the radar with a team of big names but if teams don't pay attention to her she will take over a match fast.

24. [player_tooltip player_id='171295' first='Elinor' last='Engel'] - MB - [program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last='']/Shawnee Mission Northwest

The biggest thing we saw in Engel's improvement was her quickness off the floor this spring. She gets up fast and puts the ball down faster. She can power through the block and go around it to find both corners.

33. [player_tooltip player_id='150080' first='Reese' last='Bates'] - L/DS - [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='Power']/Blue Valley SW

We saw Bates stock rise after a strong spring with [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='Power']. She has previously worn many hats on previous teams, both club and high school but her ability to focus on a defensive role allowed her to jump up close to ten spots. She is technically sound and a student of the game.

40. [player_tooltip player_id='120021' first='Payton' last='Benoit'] - L/DS - [program_tooltip program_id='432164' first='Fight' last='Club']/Wichita Northwest

Another defender to make a leap in this ranking was the Wichita native Benoit. She is as good as they come in South Kansas and was a major catalyst in the success Wichita Northwest had in 2021. She is tough as nails and a leader in the backcourt.

43. [player_tooltip player_id='214637' first='Chloe' last='Calgren'] - MB - Topeka Impact/Washburn Rural

The third middle in this group we saw jump up some slots was Calgren. On two teams with the top player in the class on your team, it's easy to get missed but you couldn't miss Calgren's play this spring. She had flashes of dominance when her team stayed in system and she turned some heads. Her defense at the net is also a strength.
