There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our inaugural Prep Dig California All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Middles we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Makayla Fuller [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: Excelsior Charter/Club: Rancho Valley/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Makayla is currently an unranked prospect in the Prep Dig California State Rankings for the class of 2023. She plays at Excelsior Charter High School and club for Rancho Valley. She has been a monster at the net as she has tallied 127 total blocks. This season she currently has 181 kills on a massive .229 hitting percentage. This kind of both offensive and defensive production shows just how good she is for her varsity squad. She is a big reason they are 22-5-1 overall and 9-1 in their conference. We selected her due to her defensive production at the net for her varsity team. She was one of the biggest reasons why they were able to compete at such a high level. We are proud to have her listed as a nominee. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
Liv Hertzog Liv Hertzog 6'2" | MB Mater Dei | 2023 State CA [2023] 6-0 Middle (HS: Mater Dei/Club: Mizuno Long Beach/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Liv is currently ranked as the 46th best overall prospect in the Prep Dig California State Rankings for the class of 2023. She plays at Mater Dei High School and club for famed Mizuno Long Beach club program. She has tallied 185 kills on an amazingly efficient .432 hitting percentage. Her defensive play has been stellar with 125 total blocks at the net. She has led her team to an overall record of 29-8 and also 7-1 in conference play. I love how she rises up off of the ground so rapidly. It makes it very difficult for opposing blockers to time her. She runs a slide like a beast and no one can stop her, which is why she is so efficient. Her overall play is the main reason why we selected her to be nominated. Although there are middles who had more kills, she was one of the most efficient ones and that speaks volumes about her play. We are proud to have her listed as a nominee. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
Mckenna Brady [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: Fresno Christian/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mckenna is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She is a fantastic middle at Fresno Christian High School. She has tallied 163 kills on a fabulous .307 hitting percentage. But what makes her very valuable this year is her blocking as she has tallied 120 total blocks and 102 of them were solo. She is a stud on the soccer pitch also for Fresno Christian. She has been killing overpasses, scoring out of system and also turning on quick tempo sets to the corners really well this year. She was one of the most well-rounded middles in the state and this is why we have selected her. We are proud to have her listed as a nominee. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
