The all-time digs and aces leader at Columbus North finished the season with 92 aces, proving that you can be at any size and score points on the volleyball court. The Indiana Wesleyan commit should be an immediate impact for the Wildcats, who are the two-time defending NAIA champs. I look forward to her progress and play at the next level.

Ask anyone what I think of defensive specialists, and the answer usually is “there’s a reason why coaches wait to recruit them”. There’s just SOOOO many. However, with Morgan in our gym on Saturday, she’s given me pause to my way of thinking. Willing to do the dirty work, hit the floor, crash into benches—Miss Osborn more than makes up for her size with her nonstop motor and work ethic. She even stepped in to set a little in the 6-on-6 portion of the drills on Saturday. Remember my statement from above? Morgan crushes my opinion and completely changes my thinking of her position. I got a chance to see her play earlier this fall, and look forward to seeing her do her thing on Academy’s 17-1 this coming spring.

Morgan is a defensive player who catches your eye right away; she has the “IT” quality of an excellent libero – the rare combination of confidence, communication, natural intuition and competitiveness. This young lady is not ok with a ball hitting the floor ANYWHERE, whether she is diving for a tip right over the block or chasing down a shanked pass, Morgan is a beast of a DS. During the expo there was no one better than her at picking up tips, which for me is a skill that even high level, college liberos can struggle with. I am really excited to watch her play with her Academy 17-1s team this club season – they are going to have a lot of long rallies with Osborn in the back row.

Morgan was a powerhouse of a DS for the Bulldogs this past season. She led in digs per set (4.3), digs per match (12.9) and total digs (427). But Osborn doesn’t just bring incredible defensive skills, she can also serve really well – she was first on the team in aces per set with almost one each game and second in total aces (46) for Columbus North. I look forward to seeing Morgan interact with other players on the court at the Expo – I expect her to emerge as a floor leader pretty quickly.

Morgan was an incredibly fun athlete to watch at the Expo. She was explosive and fearless in her movement. In out-of-system plays, she would jump across the 10′ line to use her hands. She is aggressive in her play and clearly a very competitive individual.
