In mid-September against Center Grove, Grace played a ton but didn’t factor much into the loss with only 2 kills and 3 blocks. Fast-forward to the regional title match against #1 Cathedral, and Grace was the x-factor in the four-set win. Her 16 kills, 5 aces, 3 blocks and 3 digs, while hitting north of .500 as a pin attacker, was THE reason for the Royals’ victory. The adjustment made by the coaching staff in the sectional final against New Palestine has made all the difference, and should give colleges a little more tape to watch and see what she brings to the table.

Grace’s quick rise will work in consort with her availability to play at Roncalli, now that graduations have moved some of the biggest hitters (read:

Her open-level schedule she’ll get to play in with her Academy squad will give her more than enough opportunity to show what she’s got, just like she did at the Top 250 Expo this past Saturday.

If you’re going to come to these types of events, you might as well have some fun. Grace’s effort and attitude spilled into her play, and it was a pleasure watching her rip some balls from both pins. She even took time to spell the middles in a 6-on-6 drill, and after the initial goofiness of playing out of position, Miss Troxell put some balls away and blocked a couple for good measure. This is a good kid with athleticism to burn that can play either pin at the next level for a small school near you.

Grace was able to spend her high school season playing alongside some of the best players in the state, and even country, at Roncalli this fall. She is a lengthy OPP/MB with a good vertical jump who has shown she can hit off of two feet or one foot, making her very versatile at the net. When she was able to get on the court for the state champs, she played well, hitting at a .314 clip with just 9 errors on 51 swings. I am most looking forward to seeing her blocking skills at the Expo, but am also excited to watch her back row play – she shows real promise in that area as a possible 6 rotation OPP.
