It is awesome to be back in the gym after a nice holiday break! Club volleyball is a great way to see a ton of athletes all at one location. This is awesome for college coaches coming to scout, as well as for us here at Prep Dig. Much of the state was in action this weekend. Two huge tournaments were hosting over 630 teams signed up. We were in attendance for the Tulsa Attack. Lets take a look at a handful of 17/18s age players who stood out and played well!

The top finishers for the 17/18s division were:

1st- Tulsa Power 16-1

2nd- Static 18-1 (Missouri)

3rd- Tulsa Power 17-1 and APEX 17-2 (Missouri)

Player Analysis:

Alexis Shauffler #2- Outside Hitter for TPV 17-1. She attends Coweta High School. I have personally had to try to deal with Lexi on a handful of times and it isn't fun as an opposing coach. When she is on, she is on and its hard to stop. She does a great job with out of system situations. She makes good choices and still creates tough scenarios for the other team. She is an athlete in the truest sense. She loves to compete, physically gifted in her athleticism, and is a great teammate. She will continue to grow and develop, which is a scary thought.

Syndey Biggs #2- Outside Hitter for OC 18 Elite. She attends Inola High school. She has committed to play at Tabor College next season. She was a huge reason the Inola program has become one of the best in class 4A. Her presence in the front and back row are felt the entire match. She has a huge approach that allows her to have a solid vertical. OC 18 Elite finished the tournament tied for 5th at Tulsa Attack. I look for her to continue to be a leader for this team and push them to fight for gold brackets often this season.

Laney Hammond #3- Defensive Specialist for TPV 17-1. She attends Broken Arrow High School. I believe she is playing up this season. Yet, you would not be able to tell. She is mature in her abilities and technique. She does a phenomenal job in serve receive. Tracks the ball out of the servers hand and makes efficient movements, these things are heavily sought after as a coach. Laney will be one of the best passers in the state in the very near future.

[player_tooltip player_id='177234' first='Gracelyn' last='Skaggs'] #14- Defensive Specialist for Peak 17-2. She attends Westmoore High School. She made a big jump last season in her abilities and deserved the attention that came with it. This past weekend was the first time I was able to watch her in person and she impressed me. She does a great job controlling her platform. Giving solid angles and keeping the movement during to a minimum. I'm excited to see her grow and develop over the season progresses.

We will be putting out multiple articles over the next week covering these top players and some emerging stars. 2023 has already begun to prove what we have been saying for a couple years now, Oklahoma is on the rise and will be a force in volleyball sooner rather than later. If you have a friend or family that loves volleyball, have them use "Jackson30" to receive 30% off their first billing cycle. That is nearly a $54 savings if they choose the 2 year subscription!
