Early season statements were made by several athletes that are playing at either the 15U or 16U level. It’s exciting to get the club season started and for these freshman standouts, it’s a chance to lead a team, something that may not have been their role during the school season. The growth between the 14U and 15U seasons is explosive, a full year of high school practices versus a junior high season is a game changer. Here are several prospects that stood out for their teams this past weekend.
The SVA 16-1 squad went undefeated playing in the Silver Bracket of the 15/16 combined division at the Matt Hartner Memorial in Eugene. Quitquit ran the team from the setting spot and attacked showing off her her versatility at the pin, and as a player overall. She is an outstanding athlete with a great volleyball IQ and the overall skill set you like to see out of a setter. This Seattle Volleyball Academy team is talented and plays tough, Quitquit exemplifies the competitiveness of the group. They have a PSR Power League qualifier coming up next, including an interesting matchup with the solid SIVBC 16 Thunder.
Migliuri is a 5’9 setter out of Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, who saw court time this season on varsity as a freshman. Running the 5-1 for a College Prep Academy 15 Benson squad, she helped lead the team to a 21st-place finish in the 16/15 combined age group out of 152 teams overall at the Matt Hartner Memorial. She has a great jump float serve and works hard to get to the pass and use her hands to put up a well locatedwell-located set. One of her best attributes is a quick change of direction paired with good footspeed overall. Migliuri showed attacks with both hands when she was in the front row and did an outstanding job keeping defenses honest.

The Dakine 15 squad had a big-time finish at the Matt Hartner over MLK weekend, and Dumontet was a huge contributor to the effort. The Eumenclaw setter played terrific defense, handling hard shots right at her by moving the angle of her platform and not allowing the attack to get into her body. She delivered passes and digs right on target to the libero, keeping the Dakine transition offense moving smoothly. Fundamentally sound with her footwork and hands when setting, she delivers a very quiet ball to her attackers. Her serve has a good pace and she keeps it low over the net, it was tough to handle all weekend for the opposing serve receive.
Watching Bellrieve work against a solid NPJ 16 National team, she showed one of her greatest strengths- set location. She has excellent fundamentals, squaring up to the net and staying balanced, she has an easy, repeatable setting motion. That accuracy is there on the run as well, she can use her platform on the move and deliver balls to the pin that her attackers can score with. Bellerive handled tough shots and tips, taking hard shots overhand and reading off-speed attempts well.
Highlights
WVBA 15 Molten has had a very solid start to the season, finishing second at the NP/WVBA MLK Kickoff last weekend. Liljenquist is a setter and right side, who plays school ball for Cedar Park Christian. She has good location and height on quick sets to her middles, the team has size and Liljenquist is not afraid to use it. As an attacker she utilizes a hard approach and takes an aggressive swing, just what you would expect from a player wearing #43. She is quick off two feet, decisively finishing off over passes with two hands.
Terryne Gant

Against a good RVC 16 team, Gant played big, coming up with several monster plays to help push the match to three sets. Ultimately RVC took down her Shockwave 15 squad, but not before the setter/right side out of the Tri-Cities impressed. A confident player, the moment against an older, talented team did not phase her. Gant plays effortless defense and has a soft touch on her sets, her sand volleyball experience shows. She competed well as a blocker against RVC, who have two excellent outsides, Gant was not overwhelmed and had several touches and blocks. She also swings as a right side, knowing when to take a hard rip or drop over a soft off-speed ball. The Shockwave 15 squad finished in a tie for 5th overall, a great result as a 15’s team at the Matt Hartner Memorial.
