Continue ReadingThis coming weekend we will have some of the best talent in the nation in action playing at different venues around the Dallas Metroplex area. We had a fantastic time watching some of the wonderful matchups during the first stop in Austin last month and will be in person once again to help showcase some of the amazing players who stand out. This series will be to give everyone a preview of some of the players that we cannot wait to see in action. Let’s meet a few of the back row floor generals who will be in action and deserve some looks by college recruiters.
Tally Grissom Tally Grissom 5'10" | DS/L Liberty Christian Varsity | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-10 Libero/Defensive Specialist (HS: Liberty Christian/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Tally is currently ranked as the 89th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays high school volleyball for Liberty Christian High School and club for the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline volleyball club. We have had Tally in our rankings for a couple of years now and she has earned every bit of her position with her overall production on the court. Not many players are able/willing to play multiple positions at a high level. Last year she was primarily a pin attacker for her club team and this year she has transitioned back to a back row defender. Her size and athleticism allow her to be able to play both of those but her skills allow her to flourish in both roles. She has extensive defensive range laterally and not much falls near her zone. I love that she is interchangeable between both the left back and middle back positions as this gives any team she is on much versatility in lineup options. Her form and posture during serve receive is unmatched as she stays low and forward before and during contact. She is the type of player who could be an immediate impact ball control specialist in the back row.
Mykayla McMillian Mykayla McMillian 5'3" | DS/L Episcopal | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-3 Libero (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline//Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mykayla is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but we are watching her progress very closely. She plays at Episcopal High School and for the awesome Houston Skyline club program. Miss McMillian has superhuman speed on the court as she defends and covers her hitters. She can handle the hard driven attack so well by collapsing her body to cushion the contact. I love how she uses everything she has to keep the ball up and in play. At the snap of a finger she can explode in a different direction to extend her arms and pick up a deflection. Her size allows her to stay low to the ground and keep her posture throughout the entire play without tiring her out. She is also special because she can use her hands just like a setter and dig or also deliver the second contact toward a front row hitter at a high level. She is one to watch on a very special team. If you give her a look you will not be disappointed.
Isa Camacho Isa Camacho 5'7" | DS/L Lovejoy | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-7 Libero (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Excel/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Isa is currently ranked as the 68th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Miss Camacho plays at Lovejoy High School and also for the fantastic Excel club program. I have been watching Isa for the past couple of years now and she continues to amaze me. Her footwork, in my opinion, is some of the best in the business and this comes from her many years of high-level soccer play. She always stays so well balanced as she moves to the ball and during contact. If I had a young volleyball player who was a visual learner I would absolutely have them watch Isa’s footwork in order to learn what to do. Her heels stay off of the floor to keep her super bouncy and quick as she tracks the ball down. I also love how she keeps her eyes focused on the other side of the court in order to analyze where the ball will be attacked from. If you want a cerebral libero who will lead by example look no further. We will be watching her team very closely this coming weekend and you should also.
