The club volleyball season has come to an end in great style, with the best teams in the country battling at the 2023 USAV Girls Junior National Championship, in Chicago, between the end of June and the start of July.

The top talent in the state of Texas won't have much time off the court, however, as they are now gearing up to represent their high schools in the upcoming season, with the first non-district matches set to happen on August 4 and district play starting from August 22.

The state of Texas has one of the largest high school seasons in the entire country with the University Interscholastic League (UIL) managing a tournament for public schools that features six divisions, 192 districts and as many as 1,207 high school teams.

Prep Dig will be following all the action, as usual, but until it starts, let's take some time to preview some of the districts located in the Houston area.

Division 6A - District 24

Brazoswood

Clute's Brazoswood ranked third in the district, ending their campaign with seven wins and five losses. The Lady Bucs couldn't make it past Dawson in the first round of the playoffs and were eliminated in the bi-district round. Brazoswood will have two positions to fill in the starting lineup this season after outside hitter Reagan Blank and setter Olivia Mulholland graduated. Seniors Olivia Stringer (outside hitter) and Landrie Heble (middle) will be very important offensively while fellow seniors Macie Riley and Hannah Bartlett get the job done at libero and setter, respectively.

https://x.com/brazoswoodvball/status/1659383219572346880?s=20

Clear Brook

With just one victory in 12 matches, Friendswood's Clear Brook sat at the bottom of the standings in the district in 2022. Middle Kennedy Thompson, setters Brooke Reitz and Andreah Cisneros and libero Isabella Reid are among the players who graduated and won't return in 2023. Leading the Wolverines in the upcoming season will be senior outside hitters Maci Miller, Kianna Price and Olivia Hines and sophomore libero Amber Salazar.

Clear Creek

League City's Clear Creek won nine out of their 12 matches to finish in second place in the district last season. The Wildcats were topped by Alvin right at the start of their playoff campaign and ended their run in the bi-district round. Trying to build from that campaign in 2023, Clear Creek will have to deal with the absences of outside hitter Stratton Sneed, libero Mia Sauers and setter Daisy Mitchell, who graduated. The Wildcats continue to have a strong core, though, with junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='254284' first='Olivia' last='Jones'], senior middles [player_tooltip player_id='195248' first='Melody' last='Herrin'] and Ella Holder and senior setter McKinley Cole.

https://x.com/Creek_Vball/status/1682174970346995713?s=20

Clear Falls

League City's Clear Falls picked up the last spot in the playoffs last season, ranking fourth in district play with seven wins and five losses. Their playoff run was a short one, though, as it was ended by Pearland in the bi-district round. The biggest challenge for the Knights entering the season will be finding two starting middles after Brittney Daphnis and Emiyah Farmer graduated. Clear Falls have a strong team, though, with junior [player_tooltip player_id='186765' first='Brianna' last='Dunn'] at setter, sophomores Jordyn Scribner and Haylee Wright at the pins, senior Capri Strombach at libero and fellow senior Averie Tracy in the middle.

https://x.com/FallsVolleyball/status/1668744265604775937?s=20

Clear Lake

Houston's Clear Lake ranked sixth in the district last season after they won two of their 12 matches. Outside hitters Kenadi Hall and Samantha Espinoza and middle Liana Barber graduated after the conclusion of the last campaign and will be missed in 2023. The Lady Falcons will enter the season having senior middle Annie Cathey, senior right side Paige Woodruff, senior setter Chloe Beck and the junior Gafka twins Sadie (setter) and Celia (libero) as big parts of their plans.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg5FlqNOuDx/?img_index=1

Clear Springs

League City's Clear Springs were the top team in the district last season with a perfect campaign of 12 victories and just three sets lost. The Chargers kept their good form in the playoffs, winning three postseason matches before they fell to Tompkins in the regional semifinals. Talented right sid Carissa Young graduated, as well as outside hitters Azoria Davis and Payton Cleboski. The strong senior combo of setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='177535' first='Ashley' last='Richardson'] and setter [player_tooltip player_id='124132' first='Morgen' last='Durgens'] will be leading Clear Springs for one final season, forming the core of the team alongside senior outside hitter Anzley Rinard, junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='218343' first='Andrea' last='Colocado'] and senior libero Abby Fuller.

https://x.com/CSHSVolleyball/status/1592615255620079617?s=20

Dickinson

Dickinson will be looking to improve in 2023 after they finished fifth last season with four wins and eight losses and had to sit out of the playoffs. The Gators will have to do it without two important players from last season, outside hitter Amya McNeal and middle Imani Porter, who graduated. Junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='229068' first='Samantha' last='Loyd'] will be ready to carry the team's offense again helped by junior middle Caryss Magliolo while senior [player_tooltip player_id='382566' first='Addison' last='Stanley'] and junior Keely Anderson continue as the starters at libero and setter respectively.

https://x.com/DickinsonVB/status/1684253820455460864?s=20
