We are continuing our look at players we expect to look different a year removed from their last high school season. Today it is the players in the middle. Who will increase their kills and blocks in 2023?

[player_tooltip player_id='222099' first='Ella' last='Stowell'] - 2026 - Olathe West

Stowell has the height to play in the middle or on the pin so we will list her with the pins today. She had a good opening season for an Olathe West team who had a breakout season as a team. With graduation, we should see her workload and numbers jump from 121 kills and 69 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='489789' first='Kierrah' last='Pinchon'] - 2026 - Garden City

Representing the West side of the state, Pinchon is ready to take it up a level in 2023. Garden City returns a solid nucleus, so with good passing and setting, the young middle should have a solid year. Last year she produced 113 kills in 72 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='493515' first='Ashlyn' last='Blazer'] - 2025 - Mill Valley

Mill Valley has the pieces to make a return trip to state and Blazer will be one of the players looking to impact. In her sophomore season, she was steady with 153 kills. Her defense was really good as well, with 80 total blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='173397' first='Allison' last='Heck'] - 2025 - Blue Valley West

Heck saw her numbers increase in both of her first two seasons of high school ball. Expect to see it happen for a third consecutive year. In the middle, she dropped 136 kills and 68 blocks.

Cora Dagget - 2025 - Wichita North

The Wichita middle only played in 53 sets in her sophomore season but produced in her time on the court. She averaged just under 2 kills a set on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='119812' first='Zoe' last='McDonald'] - 2024 - Shawnee Mission East

The rising senior expects to have another solid season to finish up her high school career. As a junior, she saw action in 63 sets and saw herself getting 158 kills. Look for her numbers to resemble what we saw in her sophomore season.

Avery Kelley - 2024 - Derby

We had South to feature the senior Kelley from Derby. Her kill numbers doubled from 2022 to 2023 and we should see even more magic in the middle this fall.
