Katie Berry Katie Berry 5'9" | OH South Lyon East | 2024 State MI , Sr. OH South Lyon East
Berry has been the heart of the South Lyon East team all season and she continued her strong play this weekend, helping the Cougars get into the gold bracket. Berry’s just a solid all-around outside with a lot of competitive fire.
Isabelle Busignani Isabelle Busignani 6'1" | OH Marian | 2025 State #73 Nation MI , Jr. OH Marian
Busignani really took her game to another level this week, highlighting in leading Marian to the BOE title. She put down 80 kills on the day, including 13 in both the semifinal win over North Branch and the championship win over Jenison.
Jessica Costlow Jessica Costlow 5'11" | OH SMCC | 2025 State #142 Nation MI , Jr. OH SMCC
Costlow showed her continued balance offensive and defensively, helping the Kestrels make it to the gold bracket in a tournament filled with D1 and D2 programs. The top-ranked team in D3 exited earlier than they’d like, but Costlow had 31 kills and 36 digs over four matches.
Ella Craggs Ella Craggs 5'9" | S Northville | 2025 State #127 Nation MI , Jr. S Northville
Craggs runs the deep Northville offense and runs it very well. The Mustangs may have suffered their second loss of the season during the gold bracket, but there’s no question that they remain a top contender for the D1 title this season. Craggs was tireless in her efforts on Saturday, giving her offense every opportunity to succeed.
Zoey Dood Zoey Dood 6'2" | S Grandville | 2024 State #131 Nation MI , Sr. S Grandville
Dood is definitely one of the top prospects in the Class of 2024. Her size, speed and agility is impressive to see on the court. Grandville wasn’t able to find a lot of team success during Saturday’s event, but Dood’s diverse setting and hitting ability left a mark.
Clara Gyomory Clara Gyomory 5'10" | RS North Branch | 2024 State MI , Sr. RS North Branch
Gyomory was the honoree from the deep North Branch roster that reached the semifinals of the gold bracket before falling to the eventual champion. The Broncos showed they are one of the best teams in the state overall despite being D2. Gyomory continued her impressive finishing rate, going toe-to-toe with every big hitter she face.
Liv Hosford Liv Hosford 5'11" | OH Rockford | 2026 State MI , So. OH Rockford
Hosford helped Rockford pick up a big win over Northville on Saturday on its way to reaching the gold bracket semifinals. The sophomore had 53 kills on the day, including 10 against Northville and another 14 in a thrilling three-set win over Grand Haven. She hit .440 in the win over the Bucs. Hosford also had 44 digs, six blocks and four aces.
Aubrey Johnson Aubrey Johnson 6'1" | OH Jenison | 2024 State MI , Sr. OH Jenison
Jenison made a great run to finishing runner-up of Beast Of The East, a real statement for the program. The scrappiness and resiliency of Jenison was on full display Saturday, with Johnson leading the way. She had 53 kills on the day to go with 41 digs, 10 aces and five blocks.
Marie Laurio Marie Laurio 5'10" | OH Saline | 2025 State #147 Nation MI , Jr. OH Saline
The streaky Saline team got back to showing their potential on Saturday, sweeping their pool and earning a bracket win over SMCC before falling to North Branch in the quarterfinals. Laurio showed the determination to help lift the Hornets to the big wins. She’s explosive at the net and covers a lot of ground defensively.
Kayla Nwabueze Kayla Nwabueze 6'2" | MB Bloomfield Hills | 2026 State MI , So. MH Bloomfield Hills
Bloomfield Hills struggled in pool play, but then finished up making a run through the bronze bracket. Still, Nwabueze left a lasting impression with her play. She had 59 kills and 37 digs to lead the Black Hawks on the day. Nwabueze is as powerful an attacker as you could find on Saturday, but also is relentless with her blocking effort and getting to the ball in the back row.
Allison Pilat Allison Pilat 6'2" | OH Plymouth Christian | 2024 State MI , Sr. OH Plymouth Christian
Another D3 program competing against the land of giants on Saturday was PCA. The Eagles picked up wins over Coopersville and Stoney Creek, while losing a pair of very tight sets with Northville to reach the gold bracket, where it fell to North Branch. Pilat was a big difference maker, as her length and athleticism was hard for teams to deal with. She finished at a high rate and got her hands on a lot of opposing attacks.
Karley Pretzer Karley Pretzer 5'10" | OH Dakota | 2024 State MI , Sr. OH Dakota
Dakota had a nice day Saturday, earning the surprise pool title with wins over Mercy, Mattawan and Goodrich. The Cougars fell to Grand Rapids Christian in bracket play, but Pretzer continued her hot play as of late. She had 35 kills over the three pool matches and gave Dakota the lift it needed to show it can contend with the top teams.
