Here is a look at prospects who had a solid tournament, but whose teams were unable to advance.
Those four teams are Andover Central, Lansing, St. James Academy, and Andover.
Tabor Scanlon, 5’6”, S, Lansing, ‘24
Scanlon had a huge day despite the losses. She finished with an unofficial tally of 56 assists in three matches. The senior showed off her defensive skills in the final matches of her high school career and posted a double-double in assists and digs in a match against St. James Academy.
Anna Laincz Anna Laincz 5'10" | OH Lansing | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, OH, Lansing, ‘24
Laincz has been featured on Prep Dig plenty of times, but she continued to not disappoint. She racked up 16 kills for the Lions and was one of the team’s top serve receivers.
Ashlynn Jaccard Ashlynn Jaccard 5'11" | MB Lansing | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, MB, Lansing, ‘24
Jaccard is like the Little Engine That Could, she just does not give up on a play. Jaccard played her normal secondary role on the team’s offense but posted solid numbers to her stat line. In three matches she finished with 12 kills, three blocks, and two aces.
Kaitlyn Gordon Kaitlyn Gordon 5'8" | DS/L Andover | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, L, Andover, ‘25
Gordon has solid defensive skills. I kept stats in Andover’s opening match loss to Andover Central. Gordon had 11 serve receptions and six digs against the Jags. She communicates well with her teammates and has quick lateral movement.
Gabrielle Reynolds, 5’10”, OH, Andover, ‘24
Reynolds led the team in kills against Andover Central with five. She has a big reach and is light on her feet for as tall as she is. She can pass the ball with accuracy, but her specialty is hitting.
Camille Avila Luna, 5’7”, OH, Andover, ‘26
This Trojan sophomore is going to be a top prospect when all is said and done. She can jump and she has quick and physical swing. Against the Jags she collected four kills, three digs, and one ace. Her athleticism is what sets her apart. She has a high ceiling.
Hayden Snodgrass Hayden Snodgrass 5'9" | RS Andover Central | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, S/RS, Andover Central, ‘24
I have been waiting to see a fully healthy Snodgrass play. She did not disappoint although the No. 1-seeds Jaguars left a disappointed club. In the one match of the Jags three that I watched closely, Snodgrass had three kills, four digs, and four serve receptions. Snodgrass has college offers but has yet to commit.
Gretta Stover Gretta Stover 5'7" | DS/L Andover Central | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, OH, Andover Central, ‘24
Stover had one of the best matches I have seen her play in person. In the tournament opener against Andover, she racked up a team-high 10 kills, five digs, and five serve receptions.
Willow Deckinger Willow Deckinger 5'3" | DS/L Andover Central | 2024 State KS , 5’3”, L, Andover Central, ‘24
Deckinger has committed to play at Emporia State and is one of my favorite liberos in the state. She also had a solid match against the Trojans collecting eight digs, five serve receptions, and two aces. The Hornets are getting a spunky and gritty floor leader when Deckinger arrives on campus.
Julia Headley Julia Headley 6'2" | MB St. James | 2024 State #103 Nation KS , 6’2”, MH, St. James Academy, ‘24
It was a bit of a shock that St. James did not make it to Day Two, but Headley had a solid match against Lansing that I scouted. She had two kills in the match against Lansing. Headley has committed to play at Colgate University and is ranked No. 11 in the Kansas Class of 2024 by Prep Dig,
Mya Bolton Mya Bolton 5'3" | DS/L St. James Academy | 2024 State #134 Nation KS , 5’3”, S, St. James Academy, ‘24 Bolton is a solid defensive player. She collected eight digs, four serve receptions, and two aces in the match against Lansing. Bolton will be playing in Lansing next year, but Lansing, Michigan for the Michigan State Spartans.
