The Mead standout is likely headed to the next level as a beach player. She is terrific on the sand, which translates to her indoor game. Smeltzer helped the Panthers return to the State Tournament in a season that included moving up to 4A and replacing multi-year starters at setter and libero. The sophomore has a whippy arm swing and quick reactions at the net.

Smeltzer is a stand out beach athlete, and worked her way into the lineup as a rotational attacker for 3A champs Mead this season. For CPA Benson 15 she will shoulder a six-rotation OH role, and the 5’9 2027 prospect has the desire, length and quickness to be a dynamic two-way player. Working out of the middle back at the Matt Hartner Classic she covered ground defensively keeping rallies alive, and showed a heavy arm swing when she lined it up from both pins. Smeltzer has a high ceiling with time to grow her game in front of her. Keep an eye on her career in the sand, she is tremendous on the beach.
