Updated 2025 National Rankings – The Debate of #1

The Prep Dig Class of 2025 National Rankings have been updated. These athletes have made an impact in their region, among the best in the nation, and even on the world stage. The initial 2025 National Rankings were published late spring of 2023 prior to the June 15 recruiting window for this class. There has been some movement throughout this list and one of the biggest talking points would be our top five. This is like splitting hairs. The resumes of these athletes are just different. Here is how we broke down the top five of the Class of 2025.

#1

Sigler had a summer for the record books. Her Arizona Storm 16 Thunder team won the 2023 16 Open USAV National Championship, committed to Nebraska, and won gold medals for the U19 FIVB and NORECA World Championships. She was named the Arizona State Gatorade Player of the Year while leading her Horizon High school team out of Scottsdale to a Class 5A state championship. She has the high school, club, and international honors to claim the top spot in the Prep Dig Class of 2025 rankings. In talking with others in volleyball when asked about the top player in the Class of 2025, there is always pause. So many candidates. The statement Sigler made at the USAV 16 Open final was very loud. She can take over a match, she is just different with how she can come up with the big play in a key moment. Sigler and her Arizona Storm team will see a familiar opponent in the first round of NIT Triple Crown when they take on 1st Alliance 17 Gold. This was the final of 16 Open last summer and will feature the Prep Dig Class of 2025 number two prospect Abby Vander Wal.

#2

I was able to cover the match in 2022 where Abby Vander Wal and her 1st Alliance squad two years ago at Triple Crown where they won the 15s division. Even as a 15s player, it was evident that Vander Wal would be something special, one of the best in her age group. Vander Wal and Sigler were a deadly combination wearing the red, white, and blue where they teamed up to win gold for the USA U19 teams. Vander Wal was named MVP and Best Spiker at the U19 World Championships and even saw time on the U21 squad. She is a Texas commit, leading one of the top recruiting classes in the country. Her game is extremely well rounded, she can do it all, a true six rotation outside who is as good a passer as an attacker. She has always brought such positive energy and intangibles on the court where she raises the level of play on her side of the net.

#3

Mullen has been in the spotlight since she was 13, 14 years old. As a 14 year old, she was on the 2021 Dynasty National Championship team in 15 Open. She has been dominating an age group up her whole career. This year, she is playing with her own age group with the Adidas Dynasty 17 Black team who will definitely be one to watch this upcoming weekend in Kansas City. Mullen would be very familiar with others on this list where she was on the USA Youth National teams competing in the U21 World Championship and won gold in 2022 and 2023 with the U19 World Championship and the Pan American Cup. Sigler and Vander Wal do their terminating on the outside while Mullen is dominant on the right side. She is a six rotation weapon where she gets her points with her swings, but she is a big time block and passer. This is what makes her such an elite player at a high level. There are not many right side attackers who can attack and score out of the backrow as Mullen. She will head to USC where she will be part of a very special group going to LA in the Class of 2025. One of those will be Reese Messer, her club teammate where the two have combined for plenty of assists to kills. They will be ones to watch, leading the program into the Big Ten.

#4

Campbell Flynn had quite a summer and fall like the rest of these athletes. She teamed up with these attackers in the U19 and U21 National teams, committed to Nebraska, and won a state championship with her Mercy High School team in Michigan's largest class. She is the top setter in the Class of 2025. Like Sigler, Flynn has won a high school state title, a club championship (AAU 15 Open in 2022), and a world championship. She will head to Nebraska, continuing their legacy of top setters and will join Legacy volleyball alum in Harper Murray. Watching Campbell Flynn live is something special. She's a maestro to an orchestra where she makes everything look easy. Aside from her pinpoint location and decision making, she has a ton of physicality at the net where she is an offensive threat when she needs to be.

#5

Cari Spears is a special athlete. Her upside might be the highest out of anyone in the Class of 2025. A member of the U19 National team in 2022 and 2023, Spears will be teaming up with Abby Vander Wal and heading to Texas. However, she wasn't quick to commit to the Longhorns. Many of these athletes committed over the summer, where Spears committed on October 4, 2023 with Taylor Harvey, the top middle blocker out of 2025 committing on January 4, 2024. The power and physicality that Spears can play with is different from the rest of this class. She is a standout playing up an age group up for TAV who will be one of the top teams in the country this year in the 18s division. Her trajectory going to Texas will be extremely exciting. With what she has proven so far, she will be eyeing national championship rings, international performances, and could be a key player like most of these athletes into the era of NIL potential.
