The outside hitter from South Florida had a busy end to her summer being on USAV U21 Youth National team where they earned 6th place in the World Championships. Kinney has a very explosive game where there is so much pace on the ball coming off of her hand. She is a threat out of the backrow and can move around the front row to score some key points. She is on the Tribe 17 Elite Cardinal team who had a huge summer being in the final four for 16 Open at USAV. They will be in the hunt once again with their core group returning. Kinney has a well rounded game and will be one to watch when she heads to Minnesota with a dynamite 2025 recruiting class.
Speaking of the Minnesota recruiting Class of 2025, we have to talk about Carly Gilk. Gilk is a 6’2 left handed right side where she has flashes of former Purdue All American and Olympian Annie Drews. She can pass, serve receive, and be a scoring threat in all six rotations. On the right side she has the physicality to terminate and block against high level competition. She is playing an age level up on the MN Select 18-1 team where they have already grabbed an 18 Open bid.

Indiana is absolutely loaded with pins in this class with many of them committed to Top 25 and higher programs. Addy Tindall is the top prospect in Indiana that is committed to Purdue adding even more depth to their pins. What she brings to the court is a high contact point and huge element of physicality where she is so terminal. She is playing for Munciana 18 Samurai, where she is joined by another big time 2025 athlete in Indiana commit, Charlotte Vinson. I was able to see this squad at Triple Crown. Really clean serve receive and ball control with a really fast offense and even faster arms.
So well rounded. Belle Groomes would be one of the top prospects in her state as a right side, but she’s one of the best setters in the country. She brings a lot of length, athleticism, physicality, and an element of finesse. Groomes is textbook with her feet, receives, the ball high and as soon as teams key in on her she can aggressively attack with a left handed swing. She raises the level of play on her side of the net and automatically makes AVC a threat. She has verbally committed to San Diego who is looking to continue the momentum from their 2022 final four appearance.

I have watched Chloe Meester since her 15s year and knew she was going to be big time. I’m not sure the rest of the country is quite as familiar with her. Meester is 6’2 with a lot of power. She is just different. She is the daughter of Brad Meester who was an NFL football player and she definitely has a smash mouth style. She plays for Adrenaline Volleyball Academy out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and this team will be a huge threat to grab a 17 Open bid. Aside from Meester they have Molly Shafer and Kate Shafer, the twin duo committed to Northern Iowa, Dakota Mitchell is a libero heading to North Texas, and Sydney Maue the springy left handed right side going to Arkansas. This team did not play on Presidents Day weekend as it is a huge weekend for post season basketball in Iowa. Meester is the leading scorer for her Mount Vernon High School team who will be in the hunt for a title as well as the Shafer twins who will be at the state tournament as well. Meester will head to Louisville who will also welcome Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year, Payton Petersen from the Class of 2024.
I saw Frye play last year at nationals and saw her again most recently at the Northern Lights Qualifier where she was a star for Idaho Crush 17 Bower. She glides on the court, receives the ball high and finds a way to get it done. Her range as a defender and to get to the ball is impressive as well. This Crush team is well balanced where they have terminators at every position. College coaches will look forward to recruiting 2026 Bellamie Beus on this team who has been very impressive so far this season.

Quite a year for Wiest and her Arizona Storm 17 Thunder team coming off a 16 Open title last summer. They are off to a fast start with a strong performance at Triple Crown. Wiest showed a really well rounded six rotation game where she can serve receive, pass to attack, and terminate. She is able to hit all the angles and score at a variety of angles. The Utah staff was on hand watching Wiest in Kansas City. She is a key commit for the Utes who will be heading into the Big 12.
This Tri-State 17 Blue team has a ton of talent on this team with a lot of the athletes heading to the Horizon League. Sakura Codling? She is heading West and will play at UCLA. Codling commands the backcourt as a libero, she has a presence. She finds a way to get a touch on everything near her. Her spark is contagious and will definitely fuel the fire.

Gray is part of a special group from Michigan Elite 17 Mizuno. This group was second last summer at 16 Open AAUs and has been impressive so far this 17s season. The middle with plenty of length and quickness, Gray is able to close a block while making sure she is available in transition. She is part of an Indiana recruiting class that is making major waves in the Class of 2025. The Hoosiers had a breakout season this past fall and are building plenty of momentum with some key Midwest talent and Jaidyn Jager from Southern California.
