5 Ohio Players Going Off In Wave 4 of AAU Nationals

These Ohio teams have been doing some really exciting things. With nearly five teams still in the hunt for gold in the 17 Open, Ohio has been one of the better represented states here in Orlando.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's take a look at some of the top players from Ohio going off in Wave 4!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='227627' first='Malia' last='Romes'] - [program_tooltip program_id='431829' first='Athlete' last='HQ']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is one of the most electrifying players in the 2026 class out of Ohio. This is a commodity that has come on rather late to the scene. Romes is making quick work letting her presence be known. This heavy hammer in the middle is not only a scoring machine with her attack, but she scoops up a lot of points with both her block and serving. A trifecta that has proved huge for HQ's current 5-1 record.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523900' first='Lilly' last='Mullholand'] - Black Swamp</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Black Swamp has been one of the top teams competing in the Premier divisions throughout the bulk of the season. However, they've entered into 17 Open and see themselves in the hunt for a gold bracket berth going into Day 3. This is a lot to thank the future Central Michigan MB Mullholand. A strong force out of the middle, she has been having a great tournament here in Florida.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='179022' first='Mariah' last='Gaines'] - Ohio Premier</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another future MAC Star, Gaines has been doing business as usual in Wave 4. The heartbeat to this Ohio Premier squad, Gaines comes up with a blistering attack and then follows up some top notch ball control and defense. Her team was just narrowly edged out from making it into the gold pools on Day 3, but Gaines' play still shined.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='152052' first='Sakura' last='Codling'] - [program_tooltip program_id='430852' first='Tri-State' last='Elite']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She's one of the top liberos in the country and she's showcasing why here in Florida. Codling has scrapped her and her team's way into the gold pools coming into Day 3 with only two sets lost along the way. The future UCLA Bruin has been top notch in her last go around in the AAU circuit before she joins Legacy 17-1 Adidas in Las Vegas next weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='151967' first='Larsen' last='Terrill'] - Mintonette</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another Ohio team still in the hunt for gold in the 17 Open division. This group has been operating at a really exciting level with the play of Terrill at the setters position. The future Wright State player has been dishing the ball at an elite level throughout the first two days and has her squad looking crisp going into Day 3.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
