USAV GJNC Showcase Session: Spotlight on Talented Middles. P2

Tournament Director Micheal DeLeon kicked off the USAV GJNC Showcase Session at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center last night. The courts buzzed with prospects showcasing their skills to college coaches roaming the venue. My focus was on the middles, and they did not disappoint. From out-of-system hitting drills to commanding blocks throughout game play, the middles dominated.   Here's a summary of my observations from the night.      Addison Wilson stood out as one of the top-performing middles in the gym, demonstrating exceptional athleticism and making hitting look effortless. During a hitting line drill, I suggested a minor correction to her finish, which she executed flawlessly. Addison's ability to adapt quickly and her openness to feedback highlight her coachability and positive attitude. Her advanced skills and potential for growth make her more than ready for higher-level play. It's no surprise that colleges are already reaching out to this promising middle, eager to add her talent to their rosters. Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig     [player_tooltip player_id='455792' first='Emma' last='Kingston'] has improved her play throughout this club season, and continued to shine at the event tonight. Emma is proving to be hard-working and determined to play Division 1 volleyball. Interestingly, Emma is on the path to choosing between volleyball and basketball to continue her athletic journey. Her readiness to compete and love for the game make her a promising prospect in either sport.   A fun fact: Emma's favorite pre-game meal is mac and cheese. Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig     Jazlyn Arellano, class of 2027, is a versatile player eager to let colleges know she is ready to play any position. Tonight, she showcased her ability to remain engaged and contribute to the offense, even in out-of-system plays. Jazlyn's readiness to take on any role and her commitment to her team make her a reliable and adaptable player. On the court, she consistently offered support to her teammates, demonstrating her selflessness and team spirit. Jazlyn will be one to watch starting her Sophomore year. Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig     Reese Timmerwilke plays with speed and a smile, clearly enjoying every moment on the court. Her agility and versatility enable her to thrive in multiple positions, although she particularly favors executing a slide or an A set. Reese's upbeat demeanor is a quality coaches value, as it reflects her openness to new opportunities and eagerness to develop further. She eagerly anticipates her future, aiming to join a prominent sports school for the next chapter of her athletic journey. Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig     [player_tooltip player_id='504272' first='Molly' last='Nelson'], a middle who performed exceptionally well at the showcase, switched from softball to volleyball for its faster pace, and tonight she demonstrated her speed on the court. Her quick movements and agility made her a standout player in both offensive and defensive situations. Molly's versatility is a key asset, as she is willing to play any position at the next level to benefit her team. She wants colleges to know about her adaptability and drive to work hard. Molly's dynamic play and commitment to her team's success make her a promising prospect for college programs to consider .
