About Coryn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay as diverse and able to adapt to the circumstances of the game quickly. For example, as an undersized middle, going up against taller players requires me to be able to use the big block to advantage and find other ways to score.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am introverted off the court, however, I am a leader on the court. Every time I step on the court I ensure that I am an asset to my team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an A Honor Roll student, a member of Top Teens of America Missouri City Chapter, and won the Presidential Award this past school year. I have been a member of National Elementary and Junior Honor Society. I have received awards for A Honor Roll, and Excellent Conduct since elementary.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed my teamwork and leadership skills through multiple sports and organizations. I have played multiple sports from track, cheer, softball and soccer. I have held leadership roles in NJHS, and cheer. I have also been a camp counselor at my church. I have also done community service from donations and giving back, to performing for nursing home patients.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

At the beginning of my volleyball career, I played for a coach that didn't believe in my abilities or foster the basic skills as someone new to the sport. This damaged my confidence significantly, however after leaving said club and leaning on my relationship with God, I was able to overcome this obstacle.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a program that is competitive with teammates that push each other to the best of our abilities while also a family like environment. I want to major in biomedical engineering, so a school with high academics is ideal for me.

Fields is a member of James Madison’s high school volleyball team and plays for Houston Stellar in club tournaments. She was excellent during the entire event, using her physical tools and strong game at the net to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Fields’ offense was one of the best among the middles as she got off the floor very well and managed to put a lot of power into her swings, while also angling them very well to beat blockers and defenders. Her defensive game was also very solid and reliable, as she timed her blocking very well and used her impressive hang time to stop opponents at the net.
