Top Liberos at the Michigan Freshman Showcase

<p><strong><em>Be sure to follow @lshotvb on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lshotvb/">Instagram</a>, <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@lshotvb?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc">Tik Tok </a>and <a href="https://x.com/LineShotVBall">Twitter</a> for all things volleyball!</em></strong></p>   <p>–</p>   <p>It may only be the second year of Prep Dig putting on the preseason Freshman Showcase, but this was one for the books!</p>   <p>With nearly 40 incoming rookies at the UWM Sport Complex on Sunday, the incoming talent proved to be super exciting! With an entire class of Michigan kids on tap, this showcase provided the perfect stage for us to get a peak of what's coming down the pipe for the next four years.</p>   <p>On my side of the coverage, I am going to be taking a look at some of the best of the best that the showcase had to offer. Breaking it down, position by position, let's take a look next at the liberos! </p>   <p>In the Freshman Showcase, there were so many standout 'bros on tap. The defense in the gym was absolutely insane! If you wanted to get a ball down on these players, you really had to earn it! Take a look at some of the top 'bros from the Freshman Showcase!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='454374' first='Addison' last='Nostrandt'] </h2>   <p><em>5'6 L - Birch Run/Michigan Elite</em></p>   <p>This is a player that is really well established already. [player_tooltip player_id='454374' first='Addison' last='Nostrandt'] has been playing up an age group since she's started and played a pivotal role this last year in the 15 Open scene. Nostrandt at the Freshman Showcase continues to shine. She's quite off the court, but her play speaks volumes when she gets into a rhythm on the court.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='579164' first='Ava' last='Rewalt'] </h2>   <p><em>5'5 OH/L - Richmond/Michigan Elite</em></p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='579164' first='Ava' last='Rewalt'] is another one of those Richmond kids that can truly do it all. She has such a nice range of tools in her box, she can slide into any position. I saw Rewalt hit, set and defend extremely well throughout the showcase. Her bread and butter comes at the serve and pass phase of the game. This player could really dominate the game. Keep an eye out for her this fall on a strong Richmond team.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='511364' first='Taylor' last='Wilson'] </h2>   <p><em>5'4 L - Anthony Wayne/Legacy</em></p>   <p>I was a real big fan of this defender coming out of the showcase. [player_tooltip player_id='511364' first='Taylor' last='Wilson'] has all of the makings to be a top notch 'bro. She's quick, she reads the game well and she is not afraid to hit the floor for the ball. This is a player out of Ohio, that plays her club ball in Michigan. Wilson spent no time making her presence known at UWM.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski'] </h2>   <p><em>5'6 L - Novi/Legacy</em></p>   <p>Right alongside Wilson, [player_tooltip player_id='587009' first='Kaitlyn' last='Koceski'] is another player from that Legacy 14-1 Adidas team that did big business this club season. Koceski plays a real solid all around back court game. Her reception is rock solid, she's a great defender and she puts up a formidable second ball. Between Koceski and [player_tooltip player_id='471313' first='Nellie' last='Alves'], a top performer at the Stock Up, i'd keep close tabs on Novi this fall.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='553151' first='Ashlyn' last='Pelon'] </h2>   <p><em>5'8 L - Marian/Legacy</em></p>   <p>And heading up this trifecta of defenders out of 14-1 Adidas, [player_tooltip player_id='553151' first='Ashlyn' last='Pelon'] was handedly the top 'bro to walk out of the gym. Pelon just carries herself with such poise and discipline that she quickly separates herself from her peers. She makes some of the hardest swings look like lollipops, nothing can rattle this player. What I also admired about this player is her comfortability using her hands in every facet of the game, particularly setting out of system.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587006' first='Hope' last='Purwadihardja'] </h2>   <p><em>5'4 L/S - Plymouth/Michigan Elite</em></p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='587006' first='Hope' last='Purwadihardja'] spent the bulk of her time with the 'bros on Sunday, a position she'll be honing in on going forward with her career. But when in a crunch situation, Purwadihardja steps in and makes a really stand-up setter as well! She can play such a versatile game, it's what really sets her apart. Aside from her skill, Purwadihardja brings so much fun energy to the court.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='584606' first='Isabella' last='Cowgill'] </h2>   <p><em>5'4 L - Milford/Legacy</em></p>   <p>This was a fun player to watch in action on Sunday. [player_tooltip player_id='584606' first='Isabella' last='Cowgill'] is another player that shows all the potential to be a next top libero out of Michigan. She's moves well on the court and was making some great pick ups out of just about every position in the back court. She brings a versatility that can take her a long way.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587018' first='Sasha' last='Jackson'] </h2>   <p><em>5'4 L - West Bloomfield/Team Detroit</em></p>   <p>I came out of the Freshman Showcase a big fan of this 'bro. [player_tooltip player_id='587018' first='Sasha' last='Jackson'] plays the game with a lot of speed and a lot of scrappiness. She's a constant when in pursuit and can get a touch on a lot of balls you wouldn't think she could. She'll be playing on a real fun West Bloomfield team this fall. </p>
