4A Preview: Top College Prospects in the Bloomington Area

If you drive south of Indianapolis, Indiana in any direction, you're bound to find plenty of collegiate level talent just waiting to be discovered. With Indiana University in their backyard, these Bloomington area prospects are exposed to high-level Big Ten talent every fall and each of them has the potential to play at the next level in some shape or form. Here is Part 1 of my top prospects to watch this season around the Bloomington area in IHSAA 4A Volleyball.    During this past club season, Olivia has continued to improve on her game while playing for [program_tooltip program_id='492536' first='BTown' last='VBC'] 16 Red. She brings an imposing presence to the net and plays much bigger than her 5'10" frame. With probably the heaviest arm in the area, look for Edgeman to be one of the premier outside hitters in south-central Indiana this year. She brings the physicality and aggressive swings that many college programs are looking for at the OH position and is a big, intimidating blocker on the left side.     Bella was the do-it-all player for Edgewood last year as a freshman, playing all 6 rotations as both a setter and right-side hitter. During the 2023 season, she led the team in aces (she has a WICKED serve - super aggressive and hard driven) and in hitting percentage and was 3rd on the team in kills from the OPP position. May also led the team in assists as part of the 6-2 offense they run so well. This young lady is destined to play at the next level with her crafty left-handed swing, ability to set the ball well and hard-nosed, competitive edge. Look for her to be a important leader for the Mustangs this year.     Jenna has developed into a quality setter and runs the show extremely well as a part of the 6-2 offense that Edgewood runs with May. She is calm & controlled for being a young setter and is extremely sound in the mental aspect of the game, never letting errors or runs show in her body language. To round out her game, Jenna has a serve she can pinpoint to any location on the court, with a jump float where the bottom just drops out. Look for Abrams to continue to develop into a collegiate level setter over the next few years as she takes her experience to Rev Volleyball Academy in Indianapolis and sees an even higher level of competition year-round.     Everly is a high flying, smart-shot-hitting, all the way around OH for Bloomington South who is making the move to Circle City for the 24-25 club season. She is a bonafide college prospect who is simply a natural at the game. On offense, she can rip the ball with tons of pace, while also being able to tip, roll shot AND hit back row effectively. Clark has the complete tool set on offense and is scrappy and aggressive on defense. As her passing continues to improve, look for Everly to quickly become one of the best OH's in southern Indiana.     Bloomington South has some serious young talent, first with Clark, and now with Reynolds. Quinn has the perfect combo of long length/height and great jumping ability that you would want in a college level OH prospect. The one thing that really makes her stand out from the rest of the OH's in the area is her blocking ability. With big hands and great blocking fundamentals, Reynolds will pose a big threat at the net on both offense and defense. She also has prior experience as a middle, giving her the ability to move around on the net and hit many different tempo sets. Lastly, her aggressive, hard jump float will make things very difficult on opponents serve receive this high school season.
