5 of Fall’s Middle Masters

Having a strong presence in the middle can sometimes be a luxury and an x-factor for team's success. The Middle Blocker patrols the net and controls the airspace at the net. Here are five middles we saw this fall who were masters of the net.

Kujawa runs a nice slide approach out of serve receive for an automatic point. She has a nose for the action and loves to make it difficult for opponents to send the ball past her. Kujawa is athletic and versatile and knows how to compete.

Myhre can swing from anywhere on the net and terminate but I have to say it is really fun to see her swing from the pins because she generates so much force. She puts up a monster block and plays the part of the gatekeeper perfectly. Myhre plays much bigger than her 6'2 frame and I can't wait to see her put it into action next fall at Winona.

Torah is a smart attacker who definitely switches up her attacks. She can nail the smart tip to 4 when she has a double block on her quick tempo or she can see the blocker and works the angles. She may not have all the big numbers quite yet but she has a high ceiling and a strategic mindset.

When I saw Nelson at the state tournament last year she was a little unorthodox but highly effective. Her most impressive action is how she puts up a big well-timed block. Nelson became a key piece to West Central's success in 2024.

Augedahl sees the court really well and that is one part of her game that has improved tremendously over her prep career. She knows just when to pull out that tricky tip that goes just over the block. Augedahl makes the biggest impact with her block because she takes up so much space with all her length.
