Sign up for this year's Top 250 Expo using the code LSHOTExpo2024 for $$ off!

–
Saturday marked the end of the 2023 season and man, did it go out with a BANG!

In Division 2, we saw the field wide open for a new champion to take. The semifinals opened up with an electric reverse sweep with Tecumseh advancing before Country Day managed the home team pretty comfortably. From there, it was all smooth sailing for the Country Day squad as they will go on to sweep Tecumseh in the finals match.

Led by the tournament's MOP, [player_tooltip player_id='156299' first='Olivia' last='Grenadier'], this division was one of the most exciting ones to follow throughout November. It's finale left no crumbs on the table either. Here's a look at the Division 2 All-Tournament Dream Team.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='446702' first='Elise' last='Hiemstra']

In just seven sets, [player_tooltip player_id='446702' first='Elise' last='Hiemstra'] managed to put up nearly 40 kills and 30 digs throughout the weekend. More impressively so, Hiemstra was absolutely lights out offensively. In the title match alone, Hiemstra would rack up the kills at a booming rate of .486.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='726472' first='Emma' last='Eldred']

If it weren't for the consistency and determination of [player_tooltip player_id='726472' first='Emma' last='Eldred'] on the outside, Tecumseh may have packed their bags much sooner. In the barn burner that was the semifinals, Eldred had an astounding 30 kills, hitting above .330. In the finals, she was also a true reason for the Indian's ability to remain somewhat close to the eventual champs.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='732284' first='Maddy' last='VanBlack']

While [player_tooltip player_id='732284' first='Maddy' last='VanBlack']'s offensive numbers may not have been atop the lists this weekend, there is no doubt that this player was out of her mind defensively. If anything, this was the part of VanBlack's game that proved the most monumental for the Indian's second ever championship appearance. Leading her team in digs on the weekend, VanBlack put up almost 20 in the semifinals alone.

MB - [player_tooltip player_id='553153' first='Audrey' last='Ball']

In her final high school match of her career, [player_tooltip player_id='553153' first='Audrey' last='Ball'] could not have come up more clutch. Despite a losing effort, Ball was remarkable from kill 1 to kill 27. Hitting an electric .442, Ball was a big time scorer due to her shot range throughout the semifinal.

MB - [player_tooltip player_id='156299' first='Olivia' last='Grenadier']

Not many players could do what [player_tooltip player_id='156299' first='Olivia' last='Grenadier'] has been able to do in these last few weeks. Particularly in these last 3 matches, Grenadier was electric. On the brink of elimination in the quarterfinals against North Branch, Grenadier led the charge with a career high 31 kill performance. From there, she would make little doubt in her abilities to take over matches again and again. In both the semifinals and finals, Grenadier would go for an eye popping 20+ kills in each match while also posting double-digit dig outings as well. From the Elite 8 onward, the Colorado bound middle would average a .443 hit percentage.

S - [player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff']

It is hard to say how a freshman will perform once they step onto the biggest of stages. For [player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff'], she was unrecognizable as a freshman, but otherwise looked like seasoned veteran. Throughout the finals weekend, Woodruff had her team operating at an electric .336 hitting efficiency on 97 assists. (Nearly 14 assists per set)

L - Addison Woodruff

While Harper Creek's offense seem to struggle in their semifinal appearance, none of it was due to the work of Addison Woodruff. In fact, Woodruff's defensive plays were very much the reason that the Beavers were able to cut the leads as well as they did in their match against Country Day. In the four set match, Woodruff had a strong 28 dig night.
