She has been excellent playing on the outside for Dakine during the club season. Her confidence is easy to see—she cuts off the seam defensively and in serve receive, keeping Dakine setters on time and out of the net. She does a terrific job setting her feet as an attacker swings and can play outside her center line to keep a ball off the floor. Gay has added power to her arm swing and turns the ball to both corners around the block to score points. She has excellent length, quick reactions, and plays with hustle and grit. The Mount Rainier sophomore is an aggressive attacker; she comes hard off the right side and challenges the block with high, hard-hand contact.
