Red Rock Rave: The Voices College Coaches Want to Hear

The Red Rock Rave is more than just a tournament, it's a proving ground for teams fighting to secure their place at the USA Volleyball Girls National Championship. Hosted by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA), this prestigious event will bring high-level competition to the Las Vegas Convention Center across three weekends:   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Red Rock Rave #1: March 15–17, 2025</li>   <li>Red Rock Rave #2: April 19–21, 2025</li>   <li>Red Rock Rave #3: April 25–27, 2025</li> </ul>   With national bids on the line, teams from across the country will battle for a shot at one of the sport's biggest stages. The energy is high, the stakes even higher, and for many athletes, this tournament could be a defining moment in their club season.   To get a deeper look at what this event means to the players, I connected with several prospects to hear their goals, mindsets, and what they hope to prove on the court.    [player_tooltip player_id='700675' first='Baylee' last='Wilson'] will take the court at the Red Rock Rave, where she'll compete against some of the top teams in the country. She's excited to showcase her passion for the game and her love for her team. With each tournament, Baylee has made significant strides in her development, and she's ready to demonstrate how much she's grown with the support of her coaches and teammates.   Her goals for the tournament are clear: secure an open bid for her team and play her best volleyball. Personally, Baylee is focused on applying everything she's worked on in training and practice to contribute to her team's success.   To prepare for the competition, Baylee has been studying film on teams participating in the tournament. She finds this aspect of the game invaluable, as it allows her to better understand her opponents' defenses and identify their tendencies. This insight helps her stay prepared and ready for any situation, and she shares her findings with her coach and teammates to give them an edge heading into each match.   When college coaches watch Baylee play, they will see a player fueled by passion and a relentless drive to help her team succeed. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she thrives in moments where her excitement for her teammates fuels their collective energy. Her goals for the tournament are clear: to be a game-changer who impacts every play with her presence at the net, quick decision-making, and ability to terminate. Sasha is committed to consistency, making smart, high-level plays, and proving that she can be a go-to offensive and defensive force in crucial moments.   Her preparation for the tournament goes beyond physical training with her club, A4. Sasha has also focused on building mental toughness through meditation, breath work, and visualization. This mental training translates directly onto the court, giving her the focus, confidence, and ability to perform under pressure.   College coaches looking for a player with the ability to dominate both offensively and defensively while maintaining a high volleyball IQ will find what they need in Sasha. Explosive yet strategic, she adapts quickly and brings a strong presence, whether she's running quicks as a middle or attacking from the pin. Sasha plays with intensity and calm, allowing her to execute in big moments. Beyond her skillset, she brings undeniable energy to the court. Her teammates rely on her to shift momentum, keep the energy high, and stay locked in, no matter the score. Kynslee has set several key goals for the tournament: to never give up on a play, to consistently close the block, and to be a source of positivity and encouragement for her teammates. She understands that her energy on and off the court can help elevate her team's performance.   To ensure she's at her best, Kynslee is committed to her training and recovery routines. She plans to focus on rest and recovery this week to ensure she's 100% ready to perform at her peak during the tournament.   When college coaches watch Kynslee play, they will notice her positive energy and unwavering smile. Ella's main goal for the tournament is to earn a bid and qualify for nationals. Her team has put in extensive work during practice, and she is confident that their hustle and determination will pay off. Personally, she aims to leave the tournament with no regrets, playing with 100% effort, aggression, and ambition. Ella wants to walk off the court after every set and match, knowing she gave her all and played her hardest in every moment.   To prepare, Ella has been focusing heavily on strengthening her mindset. She understands the importance of mental toughness in volleyball and has been working on it during practice. One of her strategies is to remind herself of the skills she excels at, which boosts her confidence and reinforces the hard work she's put in. She then targets areas for improvement, setting clear goals for how she can continue to develop in practice. This mental preparation helps her stay confident and focused, no matter the situation.   In addition to mindset work, Ella also strength trains both at home and with her high school team at Santa Margarita Catholic during the off-season. Given the long training sessions, she's also learned to properly fuel her body, ensuring she has the energy to perform at her best.   College coaches will notice her resilience and ability to quickly recover from mistakes. Her positive attitude and determination to play stronger after an error make her stand out on the court. Another key strength is her speed and quick reflexes. Ella can get to any ball, from anywhere on the court, and convert it into a scoring opportunity. Her agility and mindset make her a dynamic presence, and her ability to bounce back from mistakes highlights her mental toughness and commitment to the game. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='507916' first='Addisyn' last='Gardenhire'] is excited to showcase her decision-making skills and ability to run a fast-paced offense at the Red Rock Rave. Her main goals for the tournament are to maintain consistency with her set location, make smart decisions under pressure, and be a vocal leader on the court. Addisyn is also focused on strengthening her serving and maintaining a confident, competitive mindset throughout the competition.   To prepare, Addisyn has been putting in extra work in the gym on her off days, focusing on setting accuracy to ensure her consistency. In addition, she has been developing her attacking skills at the net, positioning herself as a strong offensive option.   When college coaches watch Addisyn play, they will notice her exceptional court awareness, leadership, and composure in high-pressure moments. Alice has remained diligent in her workouts and training regimen, but leading up to Red Rock Rave, she has placed extra emphasis on recovery, physical therapy, and stretching to ensure she is in peak condition for competition. Her attention to injury prevention and mobility highlights her dedication to long-term performance and endurance.   Alice's energy, passion for the game, and relentless drive for improvement will stand out to college coaches. She embraces the mindset of working hard, maintaining a positive attitude, and continuously learning, knowing that growth is a constant process.
