I have been following Baylee Wilson Baylee Wilson 6'3" | OH/DS/L Cathedral Catholic | 2029 State CA for a long time, and one conclusion I have come to is that she changes the geometry of the court. She has the power to terminate through the block from both the front and back row, but what has impressed me most throughout her progression is her decision-making.

As her game has matured, Baylee has learned to recognize when defenders are sitting on her swing. She is comfortable attacking the deep corners, mixing in tips and off-speed shots, and using the entire court to keep defenses honest. Out of system, her arm speed never changes, allowing her to remain an offensive threat regardless of the quality of the set.

Defensively, she reads the game exceptionally well, delivers quality first contacts to target, and continues to impact rallies with disciplined blocking and heavy hands over the net. She influences the match long after the ball leaves her hand.

The best part about Baylee’s game is that I don’t believe she has peaked yet. She continues to add new layers to her game every season, and I believe she is on track to become one of those athletes you simply can’t take your eyes off.

I mean, WOW.  Wave “crested” at the right point of the season. I just couldn’t avoid the pun. This team was on fire.  I know they had an amazing season, but they were a machine this week enroute to a 15 Open title.  Baylee Wilson Baylee Wilson 6'3" | OH/DS/L Cathedral Catholic | 2029 State CA is a special talent where I’m not really sure how to slow her down. In their semifinal match against AJV she went in for a high two ball against a triple block and still found a way to score.  Aside from her scoring ability is her defense and passing.  She is so smooth, making something that looks hard seem effortless.  

Baylee Wilson, fresh off the USAV NTDP training camp, already thinks about volleyball the way older athletes do.

She sees the game like chess.

And that alone makes her interesting.

Her attacking range, blocking, defense, and growing backrow attack are all creating a much more complete six-rotation profile, but what stands out most is how intentionally she is developing. Extra reps with setters. Film study. Watching players like Mimi Colyer. Building timing. Expanding the offense.

Nothing about her development feels accidental.

When the pace gets faster, she is not looking to swing harder.

She is looking to solve the defense.

That type of decision-making, paired with a 4.4 GPA, discipline in training, and genuine love for learning, is exactly why so many coaches are already paying attention.

And she is only getting started.

Her vision and timing at the net showed up in high-leverage moments, including a decisive block during a must-win crossover match that sparked a multi-point run and secured advancement to Championship Day. She generated offensive separation out of system, staying aggressive while making smart swing decisions, and expanded her scoring range by attacking multiple zones after reading the defense.

Her continued growth is centered on broadening her shot selection and defensive reads under the guidance of her club coaching staff. Off the court, Wilson maintains strong academic discipline, recently earning Cathedral Catholic High School Honor Roll recognition with a 4.43 GPA while balancing travel and training demands.

Baylee Wilson Baylee Wilson 6'3" | OH/DS/L Cathedral Catholic | 2029 State CA is an energetic outside hitter who thrives on big swings and vocal leadership. She has been training to improve her blocking, back-row attacks, and serving power. Her goals include winning rookie of the year while helping Cathedral Catholic continue its state championship tradition.

Wilson earns All-Tournament recognition at Volleypalooza in Texas by making her presence felt at the net. This freshman brings strength and intensity on both sides of the ball, using her high volleyball IQ to challenge opponents offensively and defensively. Her ability to step into high-level matchups and make an impact at such a young age highlights her upside and makes her a player college coaches are already tracking very closely. We are excited to follow her journey as she continues to develop and land herself on many college boards.

Baylee Wilson from Coast brings such a solid all around game where she can score from either pin. I was impressed with how well she went from blocking, to being an off block defender and being available to attack. She brings a high IQ to the court and if one shot doesn’t score she’s not afraid to go right back at it. She also has creativity in how she can score points mixing up her speed and using the block.
