About Chesney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I evaluate the game and try and find the best way to win. As a setter I will attack if I see holes on the court and set up my teammates that give us the highest chance to score points at different points in a match. As a hitter I try to put the ball where the opponent is weakest and keep my efficiency high. Overall, I do whatever I can to control my side of the net and expose opponents weaknesses.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am competitive but not outspoken. I will do just about anything to win but by nature I am somewhat introverted and quiet. When competing my physical presence usually outweighs my vocal presence and that is more my leadership style. I don't have any issue with communicating, I just am not a loud person and prefer personal communication over speaking in a group.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in FCS at our school, FCCLA,HOSA group, and Youth Group at our Church.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I keep developing my leadership and teamwork skills every day by playing club at a higher age level and pushing myself outside my comfort zone to try and get better. I do community service in our town with our FCS group and teaching youth volleyball.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes. I have been on the Varsity team since 7th grade and that has posed its own challenges. I went from being the top athlete in my class to being combined with older athletes that were better than me. I had to change my mindset and work my way to the top. Mentally this was a tough thing to do and I had my ups and downs but found ways to fight through it and rise above.

What type of college are you looking for?

My options are open to anything.
