She earned valuable experience on the varsity squad for the Marshals in the fall. Yates has a solid line drive serve. Her cut shots give defenders plenty of fits. She can hit balls off blocks for kills and take big swings when the team is out of system. She makes the move from defense to offense quickly. She is also a sound passer, sending free balls across the net with a purpose. She mixes up her sets well. She consistently does a good job putting hitters in position to succeed. Denney also contributes with good first passes and serving. She reads hitters well then strides hard after balls to keep balls in the air. She is not fooled by setter dumps easily. She does a great job leading on the court and takes coaching well.
