PD Gauntlet: 15 Premier Standouts on Day 1

She is explosive in her approach and has an arsenal of shots. She will hit line, cross, cut it, or she find the seam or bang it off of blockers hands. She also takes huge rips out of the back row. She has quick feet, clean hands, good court awareness, and an elevated setter IQ. With a team stacked with great attackers behind her, Kelley did a great job spreading out the offense and getting all of them involved. I watched her go on a few impressive serving runs that not only showcased her flat, float serve, but also a short, drop serve that scored her many points. While her in-system swings are impressive and lethal, she also does a good job tracking out of system sets and is able to deliver big swings that also often lead to kills. I like that fact that Zukowski is lethal from anywhere on the court. While she always had a quick first step, her awareness, reaction time, and reading skill have moved her to the next level. She did an exceptional job of handling out of system balls. She tracks the ball well, takes a well timed explosive approach, and delivered kills repeatedly from the pin to help her propel her team to a 2-1 record on day 1. Kooyenga also plays good off blocker defense. She can attack from every where on the court…she was successful from the pins, hit quicks out of the middle and delivered some big rips from the backrow.
