The Junior year is always one with plenty of uncertainty, but also exciting as athletes are working towards making their college decision. This is also a year where plenty of college coaches across all divisions are looking to see who will be a great fit for their squad. Here are just a few of plenty prospects to take a look at this weekend in the 18 Elite Division of the Badger Region Power League held at the Champions Center in Appleton.
Brooke Anderson – FC Elite 17 Navy
AndersonAnderson improves every time she steps on the court. High character, high academic, and high skill level, Anderson can hold down the libero or defensive specialist spot where she is always making positive contributions to her side of the court. The FC Elite 17 Navy squad will be one of the top teams heading into the league with plenty of all-around talent that can play multiple positions.
Kayla Lewinski – Motion 17 Blue
Lewinski brings a really athletic and dynamic style to the court where she can bring a big block to the right side as well as score points. The Junior out of Sussex Hamilton High School touches high and celebrates hard always bringing energy to the court. Not only is she going to contribute to the court with her blocking and attacking, but is a great culture fit as well.
Alayna Westenberg – Capital 17 Adidas
Westenberg brings a really heavy swing, incredibly tough to block and make a clean first contact from. A really physical right side or middle blocker, Westenberg will be depended upon to score points for Capital 17 Adidas who also has one of the top outsides in 2021 in Payton Addink who has committed to Minnesota-Duluth. This team is full of really strong athletes who would be a great fit in that D2 mold.
Jazlyn Lohman – 1W Bay Mizuno
Lohman can really get up quick and thump a ball on the ten footline. The Junior is over six feet tall and has a really dynamic style to her game where she can get from pin to pin as well as touch incredibly high. Lohman plays at De Pere High School and will be a major weapon for IW Bay Mizuno who trains out of the Green Bay area.
BinagiRobi Binagi – Milwaukee Sting 17 Silver
Binagi is bringing a ton of momentum heading into the 2020 club season after being on the Kettle Moraine state tournament team and being a major standout at the Wisconsin Top 250. Binagi is electric from the pin, approaching with aggressiveness and a violent arm swing. A six rotation outside who can score from multiple spots and will be a key piece to the puzzle for 17 Silver.
Lauren Borchardt – FC Elite 18 Navy (Title Photo)
Borchardt is the lone 2021 on the FC Elite 18 Navy squad who is experienced, balanced, and a strong team chemistry of athletes who have been playing together for a while. Borchardt is much like Binagi who can fly high and packs a punch with her swing. As she evolves her backcourt game she will be one who can score points no matter what rotation she is in.
Rylie Gregg – Motion 17 Blue
PughGregg is another right side who can set a big block and has a left hand that really adds a different dimension to the team.
