Rian Baker Rian Baker 5'11" | S Fremd | 2022 State #143 Nation IL , 2022, S, Fremd, Sky High
Baker returns to the controls of the Fremd offense in 2020. She continues to be the starting setter for the 4A IHSA final four team. Her leadership skills develop as being the mainstay of the Sky High program.
Darby Harris Darby Harris 5'10" | S Wheaton Warrenville South | 2022 State #157 Nation IL , 2022, S/L, Wheaton Warrenville South, Sports Performance
Played varsity at WWS as Libero, but was the JV setter. At Sports Performance, she’s all setter! She has great hands and good ball-handling skills but could run the offense slightly quicker. Playing in the state finals at Libero last season most likely will move to the setter position this year. It will be interesting to see where she ends up on the court come fall.
Katie Hurta Katie Hurta 6'0" | S Nazareth | 2022 State #14 Nation IL , 2022, S/RS, Nazareth Academy, First Alliance
Another player who shined at the IHSA state tournament, Hurta saw most of her action in the offense swinging away. However, her hands are good as any and would set 1-2 rotations. She has seen mostly setter duties for First Alliance but come the fall, it will be tough to pull her out of the Nazareth offense as a primary hitter.
Jayden Flynn Jayden Flynn S Belvidere North | 2022 State IL , 2022, S, Belvidere North, VC United 16-1 Elite
Definitely a player with a commanding presence, Flynn was the MVP ‘ last=”] of the NIC 10 in 2019. She had 25 assists in Belvidere North’s regional title win over Crystal Lake Central. Not only does she have a strong set of hands, placing the ball perfectly at the pin, but she can run the middle at a moment’s notice. Definitely one of the best setters in this class! One of the reasons VC United is a program to beat!
Anna Baranski Anna Baranski 5'7" | S Minooka | 2022 State IL , 2022, S, Minooka, Uno
Baranski will have to step her game up for Minooka as she will be replacing the graduating Zoey Seput Zoey Seput 5'8" | S Minooka | 2020 IL with 1000+ assists in 2019. For Minooka to get to states, they will have to rely on the junior to dish out all the sets to an offense that graduates three-out-of-four kill leaders. Her Uno team is super competitive and force to be reckoned with. Baranski is known for having a soft set and good hands, nice footwork and a good sense of offensive direction.
Caroline Macander Caroline Macander 5'9" | S Mother McAuley | 2022 State IL , 2022, 5’9, S, Mother Mc Auley, Michio
For Michio, Caroline Macander Caroline Macander 5'9" | S Mother McAuley | 2022 State IL makes a big difference as she did not play in the Windy City Power League’s final matches due to a concession. They were a different team without her. She will bring that hard play ability with her as she looks to run the Mother Mc Auley offense in search for a trip to the state tournament. With Marist graduating their fair share of starters and the Mighty Macs returning some key players, Macander could play a pivotal role in their future in 2020.
