We've moved on from the class of 2026 and their specific updates. Here's what to expect this week with our release of the updated class of 2027 rankings.

This is a measure of college readiness, not how things are right now.

Our rankings are opinion-based, not fact-based. The fact remains, however, that we list athletes according to how ready they are to play at the next level. Obviously, those that have earned commitments—-from [player_tooltip player_id='443848' first='Carsyn' last='Comer'] (Westfield, Louisville commit) to [player_tooltip player_id='448138' first='Luca' last='Bombacino'] (Chesterton, Michigan commit) to [player_tooltip player_id='435867' first='Lila' last='Bruszewski'] (Carmel, College of Charleston commit)—-are ready for college. Their commitments are solidified and they're all set. This also means we won't spend another second talking about those kids because there are SO many more uncommitted athletes to talk about. We move the committed athletes to the “front of the line”, so to speak, as these are the kids that have attended multiple summer college camps, received multiple college recruitment interests and have made unofficial visits to many places. Some have done the above and not received commitments yet, and that's ok; we're just listing who has, and who should be next on the commitment list.

So what's next?

We're going to take the next six days talking about five unique athletes on each day from five different clubs each day. Each of those days will be labeled as Newcomers (Tuesday), Stock Risers (Wednesday), Pin Attackers (Thursday), Middles (Friday), Setters (Saturday) and Defensive Specialists (Sunday). That means that over the next week, we'll talk about 30 (!!!) unique athletes, what (if any) commitment they've received, and what those athletes bring to the table for college programs ready to take them. It's a fun process, and we at PrepDig literally watch these amazing athletes grow up.

MYTH: Your recruitment has been ruined because of an opinion piece.

We receive a few dozen emails the week of the release that are quite nasty. First off, if you're rude, indecent, or otherwise unpleasant, we will ignore your email and most likely discard it. Second, This is not the “be all, end all” to the recruiting process. What we type here is merely opinion, and is subject to criticism and change. That being said, once your commitment is received, we (or you) can add it to your profile and put you next in line on our list. This class already has over 15 athletes committed somewhere for the fall of ‘27, and will shape up to be one of the most talented classes since we started this whole thing during the pandemic.

FACT: We read and listen to any and all NICE emails, suggestions and comments, and sometimes respond.

If you feel that we've over (or under) represented your particular spot, be nice, and show us proof. It is impossible for us to see all 200+ athletes in person and every little adjustment they've made along the recruiting trail. We make mistakes all the time. We take suggestions from college coaches (some of whom are subscribed) to club coaches to high school coaches and everyone in between as to how on or off our predictions of the kids' futures can be. Bottom line—-we don't know what we don't know. If there's someone missing from this list, let us know, or better yet, enter as much information as possible into our database to be seen.

Be realistic. But most of all, be nice.

The reality of the situation is simple—-just because you've set all of the assist records as a 5'4” setter at your school does NOT mean that you're ready to run the offense at Penn State. We try to accompany your skill set in order with others that have similar skill sets. A three-rotation high-flying outside hitter that doesn't pass well might not be as highly ranked as you think. Just because she hits hard doesn't mean she's ready for prime time. Be well-trained, take extra reps, and show us something special to stand out. But be nice. You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, as my old coach used to say. After all, this recruiting process is a grind, but it is meant to be fun. Let's keep it that way.
