–

With a full summer under our belts, this has been one heck of a whirlwind for the athletes in Michigan.

Some of the best of the best in the class of 2027 were making some huge announcements. Meanwhile, we still had quite a few big moves from the stars of the 2026 class as well. Just in the first two months of open recruitment, over 15 of the top 25 ranked athletes in the class of 2027 have found their next home!

Commitments flying left and right, it was hard to keep up with who was going where. No need to worry though, because we have you covered. Let's take a look at another addition of Commitment Catch-Up.

[player_tooltip player_id='454371' first='Riley' last='Loehfelm'] to Villanova

6'0 OH - Forest Hills Northern/FaR Out

Villanova is having one heck of a 2025 preseason. The Wildcats are currently running on a an undefeated 8-0 start to the 2025 season. I would not be surprised to hear this more often in the near future. Just days prior to the commencement of the fall season, Villanova got a huge call from one of the fastest rising players in Michigan, [player_tooltip player_id='454371' first='Riley' last='Loehfelm']. A game changer in her own right, is Villanova coming from Creighton and Marquette as the new Big East/Mid-Major power?

Loehfelm will be coming onto campus with quite the extensive resume. With her high school team, she'd played a pivotal role in Forest Hills Northern domination in Division 1. The Huskies have been cemented within the Top Ten rankings for nearly, if not, the entirety of her career thus far. In the club side, Loehfelm was a driving force in FaR Out's recent Top Ten finish in 16 Open at AAU Nationals.

[player_tooltip player_id='442982' first='Grace' last='Goodyke'] to Dayton

6'0 OH - Grand Rapids Christian/FaR Out

Right alongside Loehfelm at FaR Out, you can find [player_tooltip player_id='442982' first='Grace' last='Goodyke'], the two make quite the pair in the club circuit. Much like her counterpart too, Goodyke will be taking her talents to one of the most respected Mid-Major volleyball programs in the country, Dayton. Dayton is coming off of a huge season that saw them appear in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and win their second straight A10 Regular Season title.

For Dayton, a commitment from Goodyke shows that the Flyers have no intentions on landing anytime soon. Goodyke is one of the highest touted prospects coming out of Michigan for the '27 class. In her rookie season, she led Grand Rapids Christian to a Division 2 Final Four appearance. Since then, she has been the face of GRC. A program that has become responsible for some of volleyball's biggest names, including Jordyn Gates (Arkansas/GVSU), Evie Doezema (Michigan State) and Addie VanderWeide (Iowa/Hope).

[player_tooltip player_id='454366' first='Jordyn' last='Jones'] to Belmont

5'8 OH - Richmond/Michigan Elite

Don't let her size fool you, because [player_tooltip player_id='454366' first='Jordyn' last='Jones'] is coming in HOT. This is arguably one of the most entertaining players you could watch when it comes to prep volleyball players in Michigan. At only 5'8, Jones has one of the steepest verticals. This, to add to her wicked arm speed, Jones can put on quite the show. Her game is very reminiscent to that of Dayton's Lexie Almondovar, Pitt's Leketor Member-Meneh and Arkansas' Jill Gillen, to name a few. It's apparent that Belmont saw this potential, and jumped to the opportunity.

What a time to become a Belmont Bruin, too! This program is experiencing one of its best starts in program history. Following a 2024 season that saw the Bruins with an 11-19 record. Bring in new head coach, Fritz Rosenberg, and the Bruins are currently cruising to an 8-1 non-conference record! Nashville is looking to become the place to be for rising volleyball stars, both Jones and Belmont look to be amongst those stars.

[player_tooltip player_id='442994' first='Makayla' last='Naves'] to Western Michigan

5'8 DS/L - Davison/Legacy

If you have been at all following the Western Michigan Broncos over the last few years, you know that they know how to pick up a good libero or two. Look no further for their next superstar in the back court than [player_tooltip player_id='442994' first='Makayla' last='Naves']! In many ways, Naves' game is uber reminiscent of recent stars for the Broncos. Similar to Andelyn Simkins (Top 5 in Career Digs) and current libero, Elana Erickson, Naves' has a long history of excelling in multiple positions on the court, a trait many can attribute to her success in the off-colored jersey.

By time this recruit makes her way to Kalamazoo, however, she may be one of the most decorated prospects that WMU has ever picked up. Just entering the beginning of her junior year, Naves is a double National Champion, winning 15 and 16 Open at AAU Nationals. Western has, in many ways, become one of the burgeoning names in national volleyball conversation. With an athlete with the talent and experience of Naves, it's no question that they're wanting to continue that ascent.

Addyson Lewis to West Liberty

5'9 S - Clarkston/L2

This player has spent little time making her name known in recent months. With a rather breakout club season with Legacy's 17-3s, Addyson Lewis has quickly found her spot at West Liberty University. One of the more perennial programs in Division 2, WLU has been a long fan of what the Mitten state has to offer. With recent standouts including Nyia Setla, an All-American libero for the Bears, and more recently, Adrienne Staib.

This marks yet another strong player from Michigan and one that is poised to have a big senior season with Clarkston.
